Louisville, Tests, Home

Let's see.

Got home last night, and Kaylee, Steve and I went to B-Dubs. (Buffalo Wild Wings). I had a mushroom swiss burger (I don't like wings) that was really quite good! But I felt awful. I hadn't slept the last two nights hardly at all, was outside, hot, tried drinking water but it seems like never enough, and had bad headaches 3 days in a row. So that part wasn't great. After we got back from the restaurant, even though I was full of burger and cheese curds, I went to bed, at like 9:30-10 pm. Crazy early, but my head already hurt, I hadn't slept, and I was just...done. (Woke up this morning just fine, after a good nights' sleep, thankfully!)

I don't have anything on the books for today for flying. Steve wants me to run up the 340 and see if the probe is working properly. I have laundry to do next door since we still don't have water capabilities at home. Catching up on logbook and CAF stuff and pictures and social media posting for the groups and that kind of thing, unpacking bags, organizing for the next week, but...nothing major on tap for today. I don't mind.

I got partial test results back from my lab work. It was Bad News/Good News. The funny part was that my liver function stuff was perfect. All that was great. That's why I did these tests in the first place. The rest was curiosity or just came with it anyway. Blood sugar levels still good, Thyroid all good, and then it went downhill from there. I had three "abnormal" kidney numbers. I look up each of them and they say it can be caused by dehydration, and that's probably true. Remember I said I only had a little to 'give' for that sample even though I'd drank a bottle of water before I went in. My urinalysis was also "abnormal" on "Hyaline Cast", which are proteins that show up that are usually from poor kidney function. So that's four things my kidneys were not happy about, apparently. The super annoying thing about that is, that I now have to go do it again after I rehydrate and make SURE that that's all it is, and not that my kidneys have taken a dive. But the more puzzling one was my cholesterol. I've always had good cholesterol, zero problems there. Last April I had normal cholesterol and triglycerides and such. I went from like 150 to 211 and 130 to 214 respectively on those two things, in five months flat. All my cholesterol stuff was flagged abnormal. I haven't changed my diet or gotten any more sedentary or done Anything weird to have my cholesterol, which hasn't been creeping up, which hasn't ever been bad before, suddenly jump to 'bad' in 5 months. I don't get it. What the heck?  Apparently Dr Google says dehydration can also cause those numbers to be high too, but really? So...once again, I gotta make sure I'm good and hydrated for awhile here, and rerun both those tests, and see if it was an anomaly or if I suddenly tanked on cholesterol. This is why I've usually avoided doctors and tests, man.  It's a never-ending cycle. Oh, I also got the Estradiol levels back, and it says "17", which the test said was "normal" but when I look it up, that's normal for post-menopausal women, or very low. Except I don't think I'm post-menopausal. (I can't tell for sure because of the ablation I had, but my last blood test at the doc office said I was still at normal follicular production levels.) So...there's that. I don't know what the Estradiol level means, or if it's influenced by anything, or what. lol My testosterone test hasn't come back in yet for some reason. If it's not in by the end of the day I'll contact them and ask about it, because it's weird for them to take this long to get stuff back. *sigh*

The event. It was fun, and we all enjoyed it. Steve, Morgan and I flew down, she did the flying down and the rides. I flew us home. Our hotel room suite was very nice, but the fanciest thing about it was the shower. That was some serious water pressure--I've not had a shower that 'hard' before that I can recall. You sure couldn't put a small child in there, it would knock them over and/or hurt them! The pressure was so high you could feel the airflow coming back up from the bottom of the shower after it hit, and if you stood in one place too long it hurt your skin. Fryman's shower turned itself on once the pressure was so high. But man, you are in and out of there fast, because it'll rinse out even my hair just Boom. Impressive, man. I asked people at breakfast if their shower was strong, and we all had the same experience. ;)

We did three rides each day, and sold quite a few PX items. Challenge coins, airplane toys, t-shirts and hats, etc. So we ended up selling rides to 27 people total in BOB, which isn't bad! Would have liked to do about 1-2 more rides each day, but with the airspace closed for 3 hours a day and no advertising for rides, I feel like we did well with what we did. I didn't feel good the first day so Morgan did them. I did feel good the first half of the second day even though I hadn't slept, but I still had her do them. Then I flew home and had a nice crosswind landing on the centerline, main wheel first, then the other main, then the tail. I appreciated having a good one. ;) We had an airconditioned FBO close by to use for a bathroom there, we had plenty of water available, and free food and drinks from the VIP Tent. There were quite a few people at the festival walking past us and talking to us, which was good. No real bad struggles other than the airspace getting in and out for the rides. Everything else went pretty well, and all in all I think everyone was happy, from us to the riders to the event coordinators. We'll see how much gas we have to pay for, but hopefully not much, and I think we made decent money at this stop AND had a good time. Win/Win.

One old rider was a former pilot, has 6000 hours, was excited to right seat BOB. His daughter paid for them to go, and he wanted a photo in the front seat, but after it was taken he said "Wait, I want my hat on", so she gave him his hat, and he perched it on top of his head. It looked super funny. He'd have been better off without it, but the final product was definitely special, as it's the one I'm posting. ;)
