NY

Today was the day to go pick up Amity and Clay. I pulled up their airline flight from Spain on FlightAware, and saw that they were landing 45 minutes early. Wow, when does THAT happen?! So I rushed a little more and got ready and took off earlier. Got to Caldwell at a good time, it took them awhile to put in my fuel; I paid for that, and then asked about the $35 fee Ethan got in the mail from last time. That's apparently an airport authority fee, and when I asked if I could pay it in person, she said yes, I had to go through the men's bathroom door, then another door, and turn right. I looked at her like...what? She said "I know it looks funny, but you go through the men's room door and you'll see another door". Sure enough. It felt weird to walk into the men's room if anyone was watching.

Amity and Clay arrived, we loaded up and headed out for the 2 hour flight home. Sat on the ground for about 15 minutes, but not as bad as last time. Smooth uneventful flight, and we talked most of the way home about food. Food in Spain, natural food, all sorts of good food, and it made me hungry, and made me remember that I'd had leftover pizza for dinner last night, pizza the night before, a package of crackers and a Twix bar so far today, and I was like...no. I am going to eat real food. I decided to go home, start a load of laundry, and charge my iPad awhile so that I could read it in the restaurant. Then I figured I'd see if Kaylee or Morgan wanted to go. Kaylee didn't, Morgan did, so we went to Marble the Steakhouse. I had deviled eggs, a 6 oz filet, a few parmesan truffle fries, and took home a lemon berry lightweight cake for later. Good stuff.

Got home, finished the laundry, and have my bag 2/3rds packed. I'm trying to decide if I bring a couple nice shirts too, not just Checkertail shirts. My bag is getting full, so we'll see...

The sign on the right says "No Center Line". Could've fooled me!

One thing Amity & Clay were looking forward to was cold, free water back in the US. So I got some water bottles and put a $10 price tag on it just as a joke. Kept the water in the freezer until just before they got there so it would be cold.

NYC over there

Two intersections I went over. "Hotee" pronounced like a hot chick and

Psycho. Seemed appropriate
