When I first saw what my last post was, I thought, “well darn it, I missed a bunch of days again”, only to realize that I did not. I missed one day, it just had a lot happen in it. Or I’ve been busy in it. Whatever.
It was brutally hot today. High humidity, high heat, the kind that sticks to you no matter what you do unless you’re sitting in front of air conditioning. I took the Conquest and Morgan and two guys out to Garden City, Kansas for a work thing. While they guys were off on their project, Morgan and I went over to the onfield restaurant named “Milk and Honey”. It was unexpected. Super fancy, formal, all weird foods, high end. I ended up with a grilled peach and mozzarella salad, with large fresh mozzarella balls that you break apart and eat, and little pumpkin seeds and it was freaking delicious. I love weird high end food. Dang it. It makes a regular salad boring and not worth the effort. It’s fresh and healthy and interesting flavors and textures and just…yummy stuff, man.
We got back to Frankfort around 4:30, left the Conquest, and Morgan and I drove to Kokomo, where we loaded up the Aerostar, and flew to Fond du Lac, WI. It was dead quiet. The airwaves were so quiet I queried whether something was wrong, I had made a mistake, or what. But nope, I was just the only plane landing at Fond du Lac in the last 20 minutes. Weird, man!
Landed uneventfully, and they said they’d probably have hangar space if we needed it for storms, too. I have no idea how much money, not cheap I’m sure, but better than destroying the Aerostar in a hail storm. We had to wait 45 minutes for a bus to take us to the camp ground, and our bus driver was a foreign woman (I couldn’t place her accent) who was a fireball. She kept yelling at people, at the police who were not stopping traffic to let us out, told bus riders if they didn’t have a ticket they could start walking now, yelled out the window “Don’t you mess with a red head! I’ll come out there and flip that switch my own damn self!” She was a hoot.
Dropped us off, Cameron picked us up in a golf cart and took us to camp, where I settled in to our trailer, hung out by the fire, and relaxed, finally. We are here.
