Hello from Kissimmee!
It was a full day. I hadn’t packed yet, so I had to do that first thing this morning. Then over to the airport to run up BOB several times and try to figure out the vacuum system issue we’ve been having. Well, MY job was to run it up. The Mechanics’ jobs were to figure out the vacuum system issue we’ve been having. I think they got it set right finally, and BOB may actually have a fully properly working vac system. We’ll see.
From there, we loaded up the Cheyenne. Steve and my bags, and then Kevin, his wife, daughter Jackie, and her husband Sean, and took off for Frankfort. Landed, and picked up Andy, his wife Sharla, and they just had a couple small bags themselves. Flew to Kissimmee. Mostly uneventful, and the weather was minimal for once. No delays, either. Dropped off Kevin and his crew, and the four remaining of us flew over to Marco Island. That had a little more interesting weather, but I just went wide around it instead of trying to shoot the original gap in it that both we and they were aiming us for. As I got closer, that gap was closing. Since I had a clear option just a little more out of the way to the west, I took it. I’ll shoot gaps if I have no choice, but I had a choice, so…
Landed in Marco and added fuel to the plane, took their courtesy car and went to Island Gypsy, an outdoor grill/restaurant on the water there. It’s warm out, so they had misters going in fans pointed at everyone, and we were in the shade, so it wasn’t bad at all. The food was quite good, and we had Grouper sandwiches that were really tasty, sitting by the water, under an umbrella, with island tunes going. It was nice. But we weren’t done yet.
Raced back to the airport to return the car before they closed at the FBO at 7 pm. Paid the fuel bill and took back off in the Cheyenne to head back to Kissimmee. Now the weather was more interesting, but we still had outs, it was just a little further out of the way. My squawk was 6661, which seems bad, except I’m not superstitious. Got to shoot the RNAV into Kissimmee and now it was night, so I used the autopilot for awhile then hand flew the FAF segment the rest of the way down. It went fine, but I could probably use a few more of those.
I used my app and got an Uber to take us to the Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and we’re now in our room unpacking and getting ready for tomorrow. We’ve never used “Club 33” passes before. I’d never heard of it, because I’m not wealthy enough to have heard of it. lol But it should be a fun way to experience Disney. Looking forward to checking it out.
