Here Comes Mother Nature

I couldn't sleep last night. I was up past 2:30 am, went to bed, got back up, laid awake until I quit looking at the time.  Woke up early because I needed to be prepared for the weather between here and Buffalo to go get the Conquest whenever they got the part done or I heard from Ethan.  I didn't hear by lunch time, so I went to lunch, which is when I heard that the plane was being put back together and doing a test run and they'd let us know.  I spent the entire day waiting and staring at the weather, which is my absolutely least favorite way to spend a day.  It was the Monday-ist Thursday I've had in ages.  Finally hear around 4:30 that the plane is ready, but now the weather is not.  So we put off Buffalo, it will stay in the hangar up there, until sometime next week when we can go fetch it in the frigid air.

Meanwhile, I have a trip tomorrow to Janesville, WI.  The weather for that is bad. We have a winter storm moving in to here, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan. A big one.  But it might be doable.  Barely.  Or might not.  So I spent the LAST half of the day staring at that.  He added one more stop tomorrow, to Flint, MI.  Heavy snow in WI. Heavy rain and low IFR here, at literal minimums. 40 knot wind gusts on the surface, wind shear in the air.  Whether or not this is doable in the end will be the icing.  If I can stay low enough to stay out of it, great. If not, we're done.  And after all that staring and looking and talking, he wants to wait for the morning and make the final call then. So I'll get up early again and look at it and see if I can make it, or we cancel.

I did nothing today, got paid nothing today, accomplished nothing, and I'm tired and grumpy.

We ended up on a good note though. We went to Angry Donkey, they had a Prime Rib that was thick, medium rare and delicious.  Everything we had there was excellent, including the new wine we tried, which was super smooth.  I don't usually drink any more, but I was having steak, so I took a glass.  Good stuff. That meal put me in a better mood.

I also got a call from someone in Texas asking if I'd take some 441 trips for them. So I'll have to call them tomorrow and see.

I also have a ferry and training flight in a C-340 out of Aurora being set up for next week in the frigid. And going to Buffalo and getting the Conquest.  Then Wednesday is a trip to Orlando in the Cheyenne. So most of that isn't scheduled yet, all in flux, all weather dependent, and up in the air.  I don't like that much.  Maybe I'll feel better after a good nights' sleep and I can tackle one problem at a time.

Starting with Michigan, Wisconsin, and Frankfort tomorrow.
