Mountain Mama

Up at 6 am again this morning.  I’m typing this on my iPad because our internet keeps going down, and on the iPad I can use my cellular data and at least keep going.  Anyway, I’m very tired, I want to sleep in tomorrow, and I’ve had enough of running around for a day or maybe two if I’m lucky. I plan on resting tomorrow, then seeing about doing some things on Sunday for myself.

This morning I flew to Gunnison, Colorado, to pick up Ethan and his son, in the Conquest. There were two lines of big storms, but they were both on either side of me, and not in my way.  On the way there anyway.  The way home was another story. I ended up having to deviate all over creation on the way home, as big old boomers built up in a wad in our path. But there was plenty of room to move around, so that was okay, it just took longer and more gas. I was in the air about 7.4 hours today, which keeps me on track to have 47 hours flight time in the last 7 days still.  That will drop sharply after tomorrow when I probably don’t fly at all. ;)

Steve went out to eat with Cousin Jeff, who is now out back with him having a cigar. AE is already up at Oshkosh.  Steve will try to leave for OSH Thursday if I’m not busy and can take care of his mom before Cathy gets here on Friday. We shall see what I end up doing with the few blank days I currently have open. It’s going to be weird here staying behind though.

Oh, I thought of one nice thing for my Mom, though it’s still flying related.  So I flew the Conquest for the first time with Bill the ferry pilot, who gave pointers on real world flying on the thing, etc.  He texted Ethan today, asked how we were doing with the plane, asked if he’d flown it yet, and Ethan said no, he was letting me get the time in to make sure I felt good and solid before he started flying. Bill texted back and said that was the right way to go about it, and that for whatever it was worth, he was impressed with me, that I was really good.  So that was nice.  You never feel like you’re doing great when you’re brand new to something and don’t know where all the switches are and how everything works yet…

Also, one of Kaylee’s girls wrote a note on the wall that said “Kill the Staff” and “Kill Me”.  She got violent again, and the people in that house want her removed, but her therapist who doesn’t live there wants to keep treating her with “grace and patience”. I told Kaylee that if she gets hurt or worse by this girl, I will be going to jail shortly afterwards and that girl will not pose a problem for anyone else.

This is the ladylike way you sit when you're by yourself and your legs and rear are tired of sitting in the same seat for hours and hours at a time every day for days and days in a row.  And yes, I'm reading a book up there too.  ;)

The mountains are cool.
