Christmas Part Deux

Mom & Ernie made it up safely yesterday evening.  I'd had groceries delivered earlier that day, and somehow I ended up with a pack of 8 chicken thighs I hadn't ordered or paid for. So I decided what the heck, I was going to make those up and we'd have them for dinner instead of the usual pizza I order in for one of the meals. There would be six of us, so what better time to eat up 8 chicken thighs.  I went online and got a recipe for a marinade which was pretty good, but they didn't have enough time to soak it up and get all the good flavor in.  But if nothing else they were tender and juicy and tasted good. I had au gratin potatoes to go with them, and rolls and butter, and all in all, it wasn't bad.  Mom had made and brought "The best chocolate pudding dessert you'll ever eat", and it lives up to the name, with chocolate crust, chocolate pudding, chocolate chips, chocolate everything. I could only eat one decent sized piece, it's so rich. I think it has cream cheese mixed in there too, and real whipped cream on top.  Like, yum.

Still talking about food, this morning Steve and I made biscuits and gravy, bacon, and scrambled eggs.  A little OJ topped that off.  Tonight I'm probably going to make the ham, deciding if I still have the ingredients and the desire to make the mashed potatoes. I like them but they take an hour to make. Of course the ham takes 3-4 hours, so I should probably get on that soon.  ;) Maybe shortly here. I should have some veggies in the freezer to make up and go with that, and some more rolls.  Then we'll live off of the leftovers for awhile, and Ann always enjoys them too. I think I mentioned I also got a hummingbird birthday cake for Kaylee, I'll probably pull that out tonight too.

We enjoyed opening out late Christmas stuff this morning.  Kaylee was glad that she got to be here, because she likes to see people's reactions to her gifts.  We went small this year, but we all enjoyed and appreciated it. Roadie was invited up there but chose to stay away, probably concerned about all those people. ;)

It's a lazy, grey, gloomy day. Steve and Ernie went out to the airport to go have something to do, a little shopping, etc. Kaylee is taking a ginormous shower, Mom is taking a nap, and I'll start in on dinner soon and get Ann's afternoon meds and food.  It's a nice weekend!  At some point coming up, we'll finish taking down our Christmas tree and remaining stuff, maybe by February, we'll see how busy we get.  ;)
