When I dropped my iPad off at the fix-it store, along with Steve's, they said it would be a couple business days. This was last Thursday. They said "Monday or Tuesday". So Tuesday afternoon I called and they said "the Air 2 is done, the Pro will either be done tonight or tomorrow, we'll call you." I never heard from them again. So today, Thursday, a week later, I go in to pick up the one that was done, and they said my Pro would be done today. I was like... mmm hmm. I know my iPad was really messed up. I shattered that corner. Big chunks of glass coming out of it, and the metal corner was dinged. But I also know that what they were doing was fixing up all the quick and easy stuff first and pushing mine on the back burner. I didn't want them to rush and screw it up, or do a sloppy job just because I asked about it a couple of times, but neither did I want them to take a week to replace a screen on my iPad. I had three trips during the time they had the iPad, and just used my phone, which is fine, I don't even have to have that, but I missed it anyway. So today around 4 pm I got the call that mine was done too, and I went back to go get it this afternoon. They appear to have done a really nice job with it. There's a thin protective sheet over the screen at the moment, that I haven't peeled off yet, because my keyboard case had tiny slivers of glass in it too. I think I've cleaned it off, even took a wet q-tip to the crevices, but I'm afraid to peel off that sheet and then end up with a big scratch across the face of my brand new screen from a sliver of glass I missed. So I'm going to vacuum the case with a brush tool and then...go for it. I'm glad to have it back.
While I was out, I picked up my SmartWool socks that were delivered to the airport today, and hit Culvers for dinner, and felt pretty good about things.
Kaylee has done laundry and packed up all her stuff, and is heading over to school tonight. That gives her tomorrow to unpack and settle in with her friends, the weekend to get ready for her classes, get organized, and then she starts classes on Monday. She has come to realize that she actually really hates change. She has a lot of trouble with changes. So she felt weird leaving IL after being there a month, and being home. She started feeling more normal being home and now she's feeling weird going back to school. I thought it was ironic, she used to say she didn't want a desk job, she wanted to travel around the world. Then she traveled around several parts of the world, and came to find out she hated all the constant changes. She likes routine, and knowing what to expect. It was a good thing to find out while you're still a teenager, prior to choosing a career path that you would ultimately end up not being able or desiring of doing. So anyway, she has just driven out of the driveway and is heading back to school, where I'm hoping she has an easy enough transition to the next semester. She seemed to be in good spirits and ready to go. :)
Roadie is going to miss Kaylee--Kaylee lavishes her with attention, and Roadie is a black hole of need for attention. Little bugger.
Ann seems to be transitioning home fine so far. We didn't have anyone come yesterday, to give her a chance to settle in on her own. Then tonight Shirley came over. Ann wouldn't eat the dinner, said the rice was too big. Kind of weird. But meds and everything else were no problem, so that's good. She was unpacking on her own, in good spirits, and glad to be home.
So all in all, a good day.
