Kaylee says her first day back at the university is going fine. She's settling in, she went shopping at Meijer to get a few things for the semester, and seems to be in good spirits.
We had Fried Chicken Friday at Glenndale today, and donuts, and mac & cheese. It was a quiet day, only about 15 people there, and only 3 of us ladies. Others are sick or gone for the winter.
Tomorrow I have a fly-over for a Lt. Col. Richard Hyman, who flew P-51s in WWII, and continued as a fighter pilot into Korea in the 60s. He is entitled to an Air Force fly-over, but they won't do the paperwork fast enough for his funeral services. Everyone around here is gone, busy, or their plane is in annual, except for me. So I was going to do it on my own. But then tonight the Ohio Yak group, whom I haven't flown with in years, sent a text out about a flight tomorrow. I took a chance and asked if any of them wanted to fly two hours round trip to come do a funeral fly-over, and they're thinking about it right now. I don't know if I hope they do, or hope they don't. I feel weird and awkward, I don't remember the points to look off of on a Yak, I don't know most of them any more and it didn't end real well the last time I flew with them, I haven't flown formation since Oshkosh six months ago, and I don't like being Lead, but I'd have to be because my plane is twice as big as theirs and it looks funny if I'm not out front. But I'd like for him to be able to have a good-sized formation fly-over. He earned it with his service, it's not about me. So if they'll do it...we'll find out here as soon as my phone dings. They're thinking about it. It's a long way to go for one pass over a cemetery though.
And onward we go.
