Drizzle

No pictures from today--I didn't leave the house except to go next door to Ann's 3 times.  Weather.

We got a text this morning that the lovely woman who has taken over Ann's Monday, Wednesday, Friday afternoon-evening care tested positive for Covid this morning.  She was over here Wednesday, felt sick Thursday, tested positive today.  I don't know if she was vaccinated or not, but I really hope she doesn't get too sick, of course.  Ann IS vaccinated, but she was vaccinated at the beginning, and we know that doesn't stop you from getting Covid.  So I'm really hoping she wasn't up close in Ann's face and that Ann doesn't get Covid from this.  We won't really know for a good 5 days, probably.  In the meantime, Kelley was irresponsible and is fired, and Shirley has Covid and who knows when she'll be able to come back if she weathers this okay.  They have one more person they'll bring in starting next week to try to help, but in the meantime we're back to taking on the four times a day trips over and all care.

Ann eats her unsalted crackers at an alarming rate. I'll buy 4-6 boxes of it and she'll eat through them all in a few days.  Like I said, I've cleaned out the stores.  So today I took one sleeve of them over, and she'd started in on eating them before she even had her oatmeal for breakfast.  Normally I wouldn't care too much, but this supply issue is a problem.  I'm going to try to order some online and see if I can get a Sam's Club sized container of the stuff.

I spent most of today sending emails and reports on the checkrides I'd been giving on the warbirds, organizing, etc.  I haven't heard back from any of it yet, but I hope to, I want to know what they think of what I had to say.  I sent out billing for some of the stuff I've done, caught up on the house stuff, caught up on my communications, caught up on the bills, sent in the receipts that people needed to have from trips I'd taken, just all that...stuff.

I also did a lot of CAF stuff. I updated my info on "Rallypoint", the online tracking system.  I got a copy of the letters from the two guys I checked out in the PT that they are "approved" to fly, and I got a copy of an email from our wing "leader"; they were trying to get me approved as a BT-13 instructor/check pilot, and Mark N., the guy who came up and did those checkouts, piped up and recommended me, said I did great, etc., so the head guy said it was approved and my letter would be in the mail soon.  So I can check out the last guy who needs one in the BT.  I will have had less than 2 hours in the airplane or type of airplane before giving instruction in it, which seems wrong, but it is a lot like a baby T-6 without the stress, so...  So I emailed that guy to get him on the schedule too.  I still need to do two C-45 guys and my own C-45 checkout and Vic's CAF T-6 checkout and Vanessa's finishing up T-6 checkout.  All CAF but Vanessa.  And then a guy in Iowa contacted us and wants me to teach him to fly his late father's T-6.  That would make T-6 number 15 that I've flown or instructed in.  But he doesn't have any tailwheel time so I told him to get that first and get back to me.  :)

My eyes were watering and I woke up at 3 am with The headache that happens about once a month, sometimes for 2-3 days in a row.  I'm glad I can get it with a half a dose of medicine if I take that right when I feel that 'ding' in my head, but I wish it didn't go from one day to two to sometimes three.  I wonder if part of it is a rebound headache, but I can't do anything about it.  I'm just grateful it still works.

And now you're caught up.  Tomorrow I've got a student at 9 am, and then a fly-in up at Goshen in the afternoon, and the winds are supposed to be gusting to 25 kts, which isn't fun in the T-6, especially since our runway back home is closed down except 5/23, and the winds are supposed to be around 300.  So a stiff crosswind, for sure. I guess it's time to practice a gnarly crosswind in it again...

Kaylee has a paper, she texts me now and then and asks me about grammar or word usage in her papers.  She's been stressed out.  Sort of hanging in there.
