It was cold but clear today, and I had NO students So we needed to pick up the cylinders that were done today, and my plan was to take the 340 and Spencer and go up and pick them up, get another hour some in of flight time towards my 600, and practice an approach or two. But when Steve called the cylinder place, they were "short handed" today and didn't have anyone to run the cylinders to the airport, and it would be faster for them to pack them up there and ship them out, and they'd be back to us probably tomorrow anyway. Well, phoo. Took the fun out of that.
After lunch Steve and I went out to the airport, where he worked with the guys on some maintenance stuff. The Champ's gear is a problem, the RG's gear is a problem, the 180's engine is a problem, the 172's cylinder is now a problem. Great. One thing at a time, right? Then we went up in the 340, and I took Isabel to ride along in the back. Steve and I figured out a DME Arc on the 340's glass panel, a VOR approach, then I did a fully coupled autopilot on ILS approach to minimums, went around and came in and hand flew a hold entry and RNAV approach to Runway 5. Since Steve is officially an MEI too, we're going to log this as an IPC. Covered all the bases for it.
Tomorrow looks like we get our first actual snow of the season. Since it's mid-December, that's not bad, but I still don't want it. It'll be IFR, and snowy, and my two flights aren't likely to go. I still have some things to catch up around here that I've been procrastinating on, so...fine. :p
