I got a little upset with my student yesterday evening. She texted me a four-text angry rant where she said I could reply tomorrow but that she had a lesson scheduled with me on Saturday and I cancelled it telling her I was going to do a corporate flight that day. "So what am I supposed to think when I look at the schedule just now and I see that someone named xxxxx gets a lesson with you in the same time slot that I had scheduled with the same plane. Really????" She was scheduled originally in the afternoon, not that morning. He had that time slot for well over a week. I told her that, and she asked if I was sure because she remembered changing all her time slots to 9 am. I said I was positive. He had that slot from the beginning, a week ago. She said sorry, she was just frustrated. But I do not appreciate being scolded. I also took the trip today that was supposed to be Saturday, so theoretically I could fly with her tomorrow afternoon. But she's very pushy, keeps trying to take advantage, goes back and forth with so much texting that it takes an hour to have any conversation with her, I have to spend large amounts of time with every cancellation, fending off things like "let's just go again in a couple hours", etc., and I don't like it and I don't feel like accommodating her right now. The next text series will theoretically be "You were supposed to be gone Saturday but I see you weren't. Really???" I deliberately have a job where people don't get to speak to me like that. That was her one time. It happens again, she can find a new instructor. I know she's eager to fly, and disappointed that the winds have been too nasty this week, but it's a tailwheel endorsement. Stop being so needy and pushy, and whatever you do, don't feel like you have the right to scold me. So this morning she texted that she'd canceled too soon because the winds weren't bad after all. Four more texts about it. I texted back that I called AWOS and the winds were 360 gusting to 19. (So no, we didn't cancel too soon).
Instead, this afternoon I headed back to Dallas. Dustin came with me, and we went down to pick up Terry and another. It was a long, windy flight, very bumpy and turbulent down low. Dallas was reporting winds about 33-35 knots, and Kokomo was around 25 knots. Dallas had two planes report wind shear on final. It was a bit of a rodeo ride, for sure, but I've had worse. :) While there, we went into the Japanese place and got some more food. I'd brought a mask along this time, but they were no longer required there, and we could even eat inside. They only had three open tables and a max of 15 people allowed. With the two of us, there were three of us total inside, all quite spaced apart. It's the first time I've sat down inside a restaurant in...a month? More? It felt good, honestly. I miss life.
Tomorrow I have to get up early to check the weather for a guy traveling from Michigan to fly the taildragger. It'll be another windy day, but hopefully not TOO windy. We shall see.
For today, Happy Birthday to my Mom! :)
Kaylee Jo passed out
Kokomo Airport under the engine. We were at like 13,000' heading on course right by the airport, and D didn't even climb out steeply enough. lol
Sitting on the ramp in Dallas
We got 400 kt groundspeeds for awhile there.
Not actually a very good picture, but posting it anyway.
Home before the sun goes down.
