February

It's still February.  The longest month of the year.  Winter Storm Advisory in effect from 1 am on.  Anywhere from 3-6" depending on who you believe.  It hasn't started snowing yet, and the temps are still a little warm, so who knows.  No flying, naturally.

Our Airport manager was fired Monday by the Board.  They are instead bringing in an actual trained airport manager.  The now former manager was the former Fire Chief for Kokomo, but knew nothing about aviation or airports.  He was a political appointment as a "gift" by the mayor.  He did jump in and worked hard to learn what he needed to know, and he was out there mowing and plowing snow and jumping both feet in.  He did all right by us.  But when the new mayor came into town, he agreed with the board that the board should be hiring an official airport manager.  If he's hired by the board, he can be easily fired if he's not doing the job right, as opposed to political appointees who are outside the normal channels, and all political.  The new guy is a former assistant airport manager for Terre Haute, so he's experienced and familiar with airport operations.  This could be a very good thing for Kokomo, at least we hope so.  We hope it'll be good for us, too.  We're the biggest business with the biggest fuel sales out at the airport, by far.  So I'm sure we'll get to know him.  And Kokomo will be quite a small venue for him, compared to Terre Haute, too, so hopefully he's good with all that.

Kaylee is coming up on Spring Break.  Her last class is Friday for a week.  She doesn't have any plans with anyone to do anything, so I'm going to see if there's not something we can do, even if it's just something small like a show or something.  She's had a bit of a tough go lately, having trouble settling in, connecting with friendships, etc.  She's worked on her courses for next semester, and she was looking forward to some of them, too.  She doesn't have a roommate set up for next semester, which I think came as a surprise to her, meaning I think her current roommate wanted to room with someone else.  So she was a little sad or bothered yesterday, mostly the uncertainty too.  Not knowing who your roommate is going to be or how you're going to get along, etc.  So hopefully she can settle in and click with some people, along with enjoying her courses.  Pray for her to find her groove, her feet, her peace there and within herself.
