5000 Steps by 10 am.

It's Tuesday already, and all is well.  One of our sort of friends from the Noblesville area is having the worst time up here.  It took him a long time to get in, then when he did, he was parked way out of the way of Vintage where he wanted to be, and when he tried to move later, he got aggressive and they threatened to kick him out, and then when he complained online to the EAA page, people roasted him.  He's always got something going wrong, always has an issue with food or hotel or flying or service or whatever, and this was no different.  He got in, he got his plane judged, and he had the choice to move later but decided not to because he was worried it wouldn't go well.  So instead he fumes.

I'm writing this while all the big warbird formations go overhead as the show is going.  Always nice to hear all those radials in one spot at one time.  My sinuses are acting up today, so I took a nap, but first thing Steve and I went up to Warbirds, walked all around, came back through homebuilts and said Hi to Charlie, tried to find a few people we knew and say hi, look at all the planes, etc.  Yesterday we went out the other direction, by Vintage, and took a tram tour of the Vintage planes.  It was warm, but it was a nice little tour.  And I started yesterday morning by going on a four-ship formation flight out of Oshkosh.  I was a backseat passenger in JP's yellow T-6, and it was nice to be able to just sit back there and enjoy the view for once.  The only thing that made me raise my eyebrows was that when I showed up, two other girls came too, to ride in the backseat of the other planes, and they were long-legged beautiful girls from California--both named Shay.  "Hi, I'm Shay.  Me too.  I'm Shay 2."  I said "Hi, I'm not a Shay.  I'm Laura."  One was a private pilot, the other an enthusiast.  I felt a little wrong being a back seat girl at that moment.  But I still enjoyed the ride, and JP doesn't think of me in those terms, so I'm still glad I went.  ;)  We watched the Blue Angels blow by Oshkosh while we were up in the air, which is a great view.  I've now seen the Blue Angels from the air.  Neat.

We've had huge amounts of food, maybe too much food, but everytime I think about skipping a meal, I know I'll be hungry later only there won't be food, and it looks awful good to pass up.  You can't walk enough to walk off as much food as we're eating.

No word from Kaylee, other than a text she sent me last night thanking us for being supportive and loving of her.  She says so many people there are cut off from or angry at their parents, badmouthing their parents, and saying they get no support from them.  She said she gets the most mail of anyone there, and so much support and love from her family and friends, and that it means so much to her.  It gave us the warm fuzzies.  She's been a pretty great kid, too, makes it easier on us by far.  :)

Tonight we're going to a couple of local people's get-togethers.  First Wing, which is our competition as far as flight training in central Indiana, except they're not.  They are into glass panels and new planes and more expensive training, and we're into low cost training.  But we're also friends and collaborate very well together.  There's enough for all of us.  Anyway, we were invited to their thing, so we're doing that.  We also got tickets to an Avidyne event tonight, but it's mostly a beverages event, and I am not drinking, nor am I hungry for the brats and burgers they are serving.  So we'll see.  Somewhere in here is a Bonanza dinner too, but we might have missed that already.  Or it's tonight and we don't have time.

Tomorrow I'm being picked up at OSH by a guy in a Stearman, who is flying us to Fond du Lac, where I'll give him a T-6 proficiency check flight in a T-6 I haven't been in before (CAF Minnesota Wing's T-6), and then he'll fly me back to OSH in the Stearman.  Not a terrible way to spend a Wednesday morning.  Then that evening we have the opening premier of the WASP movie, which I've been invited to and invited to bring some friends.  I don't know how many here will come, it's a 2 hour event for a 27 minute movie, with food and beverages, so we'll have to see.  I'M looking forward to seeing it, just to see how much of what I did got in the film, and I really want to see Kaylee.  I wish she was here to watch it with us.  :)  I'll let you know how it goes.

A guy asked me to do rides out of FLD in the T-6, and I said no.  I'm not here for that.  Then he wanted me to check two other people out so they could do it.  I agreed to do one guy because he really, really wanted to.  I didn't agree to do the other guy.  Mostly because I know the first guy who was supposed to be doing the rides only isn't because he found something cooler to go do instead, and he's one of those guys who annoys the crap out of you and pushes his way into all sorts of fun things, and he's ditching a responsibility to go have fun doing something else, and I don't like supporting that.  But this other guy wanted to do it so badly...so fine...I'll help HIM.

Should be a busy evening and day.  Now if my sinuses can clear off and stop being a problem, especially not for tomorrow, that would be great.  ;)
