Ups and Downs

The temps went from twenty below zero, rose 80 degrees, then have dropped another 25 or so, just in days.  I'm amazed I haven't had a sinus headache with all the pressure changes around here, but so far so good.   I haven't flown since Jan 21st, and that was a quick 15 minute around the patch thing.  My last flight before that was Jan 15th, a quick but busy 20 minute trip to MIE to drop off the 340.  I had a few right seat flights before that, where somebody else did the work, but the last time I actually flew myself in a plane for any length of time was the day after Christmas.  No wonder I'm grumpy.  Dumb winter.  Right now the Aerostar is down for annual, the T-6 is dead in the water, the 340 is at Muncie getting work done, it's too cold for the Cub, and the weather isn't cooperating for training for anyone.   Grump.

I had to go back to the dentist for the 3rd time in about a month and a half, to finish with the cap on my tooth.  It's a good job, you can't even tell there's a cap on it, it looks completely natural.  The dentist makes me so anxious, even if I have to keep going back.  Last time wasn't much fun, with a lot of needles and grinding and filing and poking.  This time wasn't bad, and I was still kinda wiped out afterwards.  I am such a dental wuss.

Yesterday when I went to the post office, I realized it must have been awhile since one of us went, considering how much mail we had.  One of those things was for Kaylee.  I had to leave for awhile, so I left it at her seat, and she texted me in the middle of my meeting, freaking out in all capital letters, about a signed poster of Doris Day that my mom arranged to get for her.  It it autographed to Kaylee, and she Freaked Out.  She was so excited that she took it to her 6-9 pm Encore practice, where they already had heard about it, and made some post up on their board and all signed it, to tell her they all knew she had an autographed Doris Day poster, just for her.  That's the most psyched up I've seen her over something in ages.  It was too funny to watch her.

The new people cleaning the house did a nice job.  An Amish woman and her four daughters came in like a hurricane and got it done, better than the previous ladies, and for half the price.  So it looks like we have new people cleaning.  I didn't have to put everything back in place, and they didn't leave behind a film on the sink/tub, actually seemed to clean some things that the other people didn't, etc.

I got a cheap glucose monitor, just to doublecheck my sugar levels.  I had to try out the new gizmo before you're supposed to, as I'd just eaten a sugary snack and you're supposed to wait about 2 hours after eating.  Even so my glucose level was just 7 points above "good", and the snack could have raised my level by as much as 70 points, so no matter how you add it, the math was good, and the level was good.  I didn't do it in front of Steve because he hates those needle stick things.  ;)  I'm going to test it again in the morning after I haven't eaten in 8 hours and get a good baseline fasting test too.  I haven't had bloodwork done in a couple years, and this is the only thing that really concerns me as far as blood work would go, so I thought I'd doublecheck it myself.

When we went to lunch today, most of the "regulars" were there, and I had an urge to get a photo.  I thought, Chuck isn't coming around as often, Nathan only comes rarely, Dale is like 86 years old, we meet there every day at high noon Mon-Thurs, so I should have a photo of it.  I had the waitress take it, and I thought the photo turned out kind of neat.  I'm glad to have it.  This daily ritual has been going on for a long time, and I'll miss it when it's gone.  So now I have a photo memory of it.

Kaylee came home and took a nap after school.  It's now 7 pm, she hasn't had her dinner, and she's still passed out.  At what point do you wake up your 18 year old Senior to make sure they shouldn't already be up and doing homework?  Or do you leave them alone to deal with the consequences of sleeping too much?  Or do you trust that they set an alarm to make sure they got up whenever they knew they needed to?  Hmmm.  For now I leave her alone.  ;)

And here we are in our natural habitat.  Clockwise from Steve, Nathan, Ty, Steve C, me, Chuck, Jerry L, Dale E, and AE.
