Kaylee as a Senior class officer, got up with two other class officers at the first school board meeting of the year, and petitioned the board to allow Seniors to have "open lunch". That would mean they could leave campus to eat lunch during the day. The teachers, admin, etc. were all there, and they asked questions and brought up some concerns, which Kaylee and the two other girls had to answer, and then they voted it in, and it passed. Kaylee said it was a lot like "Indiana Girls State", the government thing she just went to. I thought it was pretty neat.
Kaylee working with the 4th graders has been good for her. She's had to revisit some basics in English and Math that she hasn't seen in a long time, and she needed the refresher. She is making a poster with her name and some info about herself on it, to hang in that classroom, since she's a teacher's aide. I think it's good for her, and she's enjoying it, too, I think.
I just had one flight that went off today, because the weather started tanking. We flew to Westfield to pick up a Champ. The door, if you shut it, latches shut so that you have to use a tool to be able to get out. I don't like that idea, so I just left the door open the whole time I flew it home. All I could think about was getting trapped in there. So, no. (I was bringing it 'home' to be fixed up, by the way). Next up, I take off, and I'm cruising along, and I glance at my airspeed indicator, and it's reading almost zero. Starting it up, I could tell the primer wasn't working right. And the oil pressure gauge was pegged off the charts. So all in all, this little bird needed some tender loving care. When I last left it, it was in great shape. Hopefully we can Make the Champ Great Again. :)
Steve and I went down to Kentland and had dinner with some pilot people tonight, and I had mint chocolate chip ice cream cake. Man that was good. Sinfully so. I may regret it tomorrow, but I didn't regret it while I was eating it.
Tomorrow Kaylee and I are supposed to start official flying lessons on a regular basis. Of course tomorrow's weather looks crappy, too. We'll see what we get. Hopefully we can get moving on this.
Me in the front of a Champ.
Cruising along at 32 mph?
Coming down final at Kokomo...
