Tuesday

I was trying to re-solo someone today, and the winds were dead calm, but he just couldn't give me consistent landings.  The first one was bad, the next two were okay, the third was flat, the fourth I had to grab, the fifth and sixth were really good, but I said if your batting average is .500, that's not so good in aviation.  You have to be able to safely land 100% of the time.  A little flat or a little bounce is fine, but something I have to grab or say something or it'll go bad...not good.  So I couldn't let him go, but we had a good work-out, and it got hot while we were up.

Kaylee had an Encore party today, and she's spending the night at her friend M's house, for a volunteering opportunity tomorrow morning.  Me, I have a dental appointment at 8 am after being out until midnight on a night flight.  It's now 1 am and I'm still not ready to go to bed.  I can't wind down that fast.  *sigh*

The night flight was pretty though.  I watched the sun set, and then watched the moon rise, huge and full.  We couldn't start flying until 9:36 pm, and I needed to get 1.7 hours in.  Mission accomplished . Nice kid, and he's heading off to the military June 23rd. He's a good stick, one of Kaylee's classmates, a year older.  He's dating a friend of hers.  So far we've had a code.  He's never brought up her name to me, even though they've hung out, and I've never talked about her to him.  When I run into him at school functions it always feels a little weird, because flying world and school world are different worlds, and in one I'm a classmates mom and in another, I'm the boss.  He doesn't ever really talk to me at school stuff, but in flying one on one we get along well.  It's funny.  Anyway, he's headed off to be a military pilot soon, and I'm sure he'll be good at it.

And moon rise

It looks like another sun...
