Stories

Kaylee volunteered at a Catholic Thrift Shop store in Greentown this morning with some friends of hers.  I'm not sure what all services it provides, but it's a community outreach type thing, and several of the kids from the choir program were there to help.

Our air conditioner on the deck works.  The first one couldn't keep up, this one could keep it as cool as our house, even though the deck's not insulated.  lol  But of course we don't do that, we just keep it not-stifling-hot for the cats at the moment.

I was supposed to fly twice today, but the weather kept everyone guessing.  Steve ended up with nails in one of his tires, so after lunch while waiting to decide if I could fly or not, I ran him out to Kokomo then followed him to the car repair guy.  On our way, we were going to be passing right next to the house where Kaylee was, so I texted her that we were a caravan of two going by the house.  When we got there, she was up on her friend's back, and both were waving wildly at us like we were a parade.  Goofball. :)

I had to wake up early this morning to go to the dentist.  I couldn't get to sleep until past 1 am, and I had to wake up at 7:20.  So I set the alarm, go to bed, finally go to sleep around 2.  I was tired and sleeping pretty solid when I heard music.  I woke up, laid there for a minute, then realized...I don't actually hear any music.  Huh.  I roll over and look at my alarm, and it's 7:22 am.  And it's not going off.  While I'd set the time, I never turned it on.  So my brain woke me up by thinking I heard music around 7:20 am when I needed to wake up.  Pretty wild.

The dentist wasn't fun and he didn't even touch me.  I have a cracked tooth in the back molar.  They wanted to put a cap on it.  Today was supposed to be getting a temporary cap/crown on.  Instead, he took another xray and determined that the nerve was so close to the root, that if they put a cap on it, they may have to go back in and redo the whole thing, or I could have nerve issues.  So I have to go to another place and have a procedure done where the go down into the tooth and fill the end of the roots with something that will block the nerve somehow or other.  It's going to cost $1200.  And then I get to go back to the dentist for the temporary cap.  Then I get to go back for the permanent cap.  Then I get to go back for a cleaning.  And the mammogram people sent me a thing that I'm supposed to come back next month too. Last time they made me go twice and get an ultrasound all to find...nothing.  None of it covered by insurance, and nothing is wrong with me.  And people wonder why I have stayed away from doctors and such most of my life.  You start going and they start finding a bunch of reasons for you to keep coming back.  This is going to be expensive.   *sigh*

I heard a sweet true story this morning.  It was about an older gentleman who went to a hair salon and asked to be taught how to do a particular style.  It was for his wife, who had a stroke, and could no longer get to the hairdresser.  He took in a picture and asked them to teach him how to do it so he could do his wife's hair the way she liked it, as she was now bedridden.  If that doesn't soften up the ole heart, nothing will.

Here we have three Encore Singers, one Starlet Singer, and three I'm Not Sures.  Good on them all for helping out.  :)
