Friday

I watched the sun rise from my car, driving down to Sheridan this morning.  I arrived at 7:45, and the SNJ was already out, from Jeff.  The owner and I were supposed to meet at 8 a.m.  By 8:15 I was getting ready to text him and see if we were still on, but he finally made it.  We get all strapped in, and the wobble pump won't get any pressure.  At all.  For 20 minutes we tried.  I texted Jeff who drove back from taking care of his mom to pop off the cowl and pour fuel into something or other in there and get the fuel flowing/primed appropriately.  We buckled back in and away we went, for some air work and then three takeoffs and landings.  Two 3-points and a wheel landing later, we parked it for the day, having gotten an hour in.  He made it easy on me--it may have been 8 years for him, but he had the basic skills such that I was more along for some pointers on the specific type plane and a safety check than anything else.  He still has some work to do, on concrete, in crosswinds, etc., but really, he's pretty good to go.  You can tell someone who is rusty but has the basics down vs someone who is dangerous or clueless.  The only bad thing is that he probably won't need much more from me.  :)

It was a good day for Glenndale lunch--Larry flew in with the Stearman, there were lots of folks there, good food, good day.  Someday that will be gone, the lunches, the people, the grass strip even, and I think these are part of the good old days.

I had a plan.  Some errands to run, and then a stop at Kokomo where I'd go up and fly the Cub.  I haven't flown it myself in months now.  Tomorrow Steve and I were going to fly it, but today I wanted to do it, and it was a great day for it.  I got out to Kokomo, parked, got the key, walked to the hangar, and...it's missing a part.  A part that I need to fly it.  Grrr.  So I walk over to the hangar with the 172 in it, in order to check on it for a photo flight Sunday, and its cowl is open and there is no battery.  One 172 is down for annual, the other 172 is down for awhile here with a flap problem and dent, the Aerostar is out of annual, the T-6 is out of annual and apart, both Champs are down, the other Cub is permanently down...we have the RG up and running, and the 340.  That's it for up here. lol

Kaylee had school from 8-3, band 3-6, and drama practice from 6-9:30.  She'll get home around 10 pm.  Poor kid.
