Itemize

I didn't really end up sleeping much last night, but I wasn't tired, either, until sometime this afternoon. :)

I'm just going to list out my day, because I'm too tired to put it in my logbook tonight and I'll forget after I go to sleep.

The day started with a flight in the 172 with someone who hadn't flown in six months and was just getting back into the swing of things.  We only went for .9, and he was done for the day, which was fine.  Next up with an impromptu flight in the RG working towards a complex endorsement for .8.  Then I went up with a young man for his first official lesson.  He's 16, and very bright eyed and eager and ready to go on this flying stuff.  He's been getting rides from folks over at Marion, and Ray, of the Fly-In, recommended he come to me, so he's here and getting started, and this isn't going to take him long.  The kid's pretty sharp and I was able to talk him through a landing even though we had a crosswind of 30 degrees gusting up to 15 knots or so...and I didn't have to touch it.  He could use his rudder to keep his nose straight and use his aileron to keep himself in the middle of the runway from this first time out.  That's disgusting.  ;)  Anyway we had a good flight, another short one, for .9.  Landed from that and it was time to climb into the RG and get a ride over to Aurora, pick up the 340, and bring it home.  We left at the same time, so I shut off my transponder (for Chicago's radar guys' benefit) and came up on the RG and passed by far enough away to not be a jerk and close enough to say hi.  :)  The sun was setting on the way home, so I took a few photos while in a turn.  We turned on the lights at Glenndale and came by to see if anyone was home, and then landed and put everything away.  I got home around 9:45 pm and am ready for bed but not ready for bed if you know what I mean.

Kaylee's day was fine--her group of friends are all doing fine with some getting into Starlets and some not.  Kaylee was also picked to be one of six kids in the front of the group doing choreography for the upcoming Spring Concert to "Eye of the Tiger".  That makes me smile as it was the song I listened to non-stop for a long time as a kid of the 80s, reminding myself to stay strong, to not allow myself to stay "down" if knocked there.  Her Spring Concert is in, I believe, two weeks.  Looking forward to it!

My friend who flew in last night ended up getting his airplane stuck in the mud when he tried to turn around on the gas pump pad and went into the dirt.  It took six people to tug him out with our T-6 tow bar and tug, but finally he was on his way, got to Pennsylvania today.
