And a wild rabbit trail:
I had the volume turned down, but the television news report last night was showing a bunch of people lined up to get their flu shots and their H1N1 flu shots, flinching from the needle, etc., and as I watched the scene without listening to the actual news report, my own story popped into my head. Were I a novelist, I'd write a story about one of the most effective methods of actually infecting a huge percentage of the population with...whatever...a disease, a tracking device, whatever, by injecting it in the line-up of willing and unknowing people at flu shot clinics all over the world. Yes, I know, Kaylee comes by it genetically. ;)
Today was "finish off the BBQ Bash" day. Counting money, getting figures down, tallying up rides and food and just all the details, communications with various folks to tie things up, website updates, all that good stuff. We're not quite done, but we're close, and it looks like this year the total in thus far is $9,968.79, which frankly is amazing considering the crowds this year were down a great deal and the biggest financial boost in years past were the T-6 rides, which were very light this year as well. I didn't expect anything close to that this year, and I'm just impressed and a little humbled. This is a very hard time for most people in one of the top five hardest hit cities in America right now as far as the economy and unemployment. But people still came out to help, people still donated, and it really means a lot! I didn't take very many photos, but here are the few I did take. I know others did take more pictures, so I'll post some of them as they come in... :)
