Sometimes You Just Have to Laugh

Remember I mentioned that my cell phone was in the belly of the beast last night? A maneuver in the airplane caused a few things to go flying when the "glove compartment" unexpectedly opened, and my cell phone was one of them. Last night I tried hanging in the back seat pretty much upside down, used the "grabber" to fish around, looked with a flash light, all to no avail. So this morning I went back out with renewed purpose. My battery should be good for days still, so Nathan tried to call my phone-and got my voicemail. Four people removed panels, opened "bombay" doors, used borescopes and mirrors on sticks and pretty well climbed into every surface and tore the airplane apart. We found the "scrunchy", the helmet battery pack, two screws, and I already got the water bottle and a pair of gloves yesterday. No cell phone. When we left for lunch, the only thing left to do was pull the plane outside and see if we had a better signal and maybe my phone would ring from wherever it was in there. After lunch, that's exactly what we tried, and got nothing but voicemail. So. Either... 1) my cell phone is in a farmer's field somewhere to the southeast of Kokomo, 2) my cell phone is in the plane wedged tight somewhere we can't get to it or see it and just can't get a good enough signal to ring, or 3) my cell phone broke when it fell and was evicted or is still evading capture. Regardless, the guys spent the entire morning going through that airplane well enough to about sign it off for an annual inspection, and no luck.

So I run home to use the home phone to call Steve and ask him a question-but the home phone is dead. The internet is dead. Huh, our entire cable is down, which means phone and internet both are gone. Now I have no working phone and no computer access to anything either. I tried rebooting a few things and got nowhere, and I had to ask Steve this question before it got too late, so I drove out to Glenndale to use their phone. Which is where I'm typing this up before I head out of here and run errands and get some other non-internet work done at home.

I am decidedly technology-free today. No cell phone, no home phone, no email, no texts, no chat mail...good thing I have a book to read later today if I can't get the cable up and running. ;)
