I took a two-hour nap yesterday afternoon, and still went to bed just three hours later around 10:30 p.m., which may be a first in a very long time. I woke up this morning around 6 a.m., and my mind started going on the trip today. I finally got up, only to find that the weather was iffy out there at best, and my 'passenger' had emailed me and made other arrangements. It was for the best, considering it is preferable to not be sick when dealing with a seven hour round trip flight into difficult weather. So around 8 a.m. I went back to bed, and I didn't crawl back out until noon. Even I can't sleep this much normally, but I'm hoping it's helping me get better faster. I'm not as sick as Steve was, but it's still not a picnic. The worst part is the 'achy' part, where everything on your body kind of hurts. But enough complaining.
When I grow up, I want to be This Lady. Well, I don't want to experience what she did with her first husband, but other than that I want to be that lady. Eighty-six years old, still flying, still driving around in her red Corvette, wearing a leather jacket and enjoying life quite a bit with those she loves. A worthy goal! I'm not even halfway there yet, but she didn't learn to fly until she was 35, so I already have about 17 years on her there. ;) I can only hope for the rest. :)
Did you hear about the ladies' softball team story? Apparently a young lady hit her first ever home run. She over-ran first base, and when she spun around to tag it, she blew her knee and collapsed to the ground. She was told that she had to personally go around all the bases, or her home run wouldn't count. Even if they called in someone to run for her, it would then only become a single since that's the only base she made it to-by crawling. That's when two women from the opposing team declared that there was no rule against helping, and one went to her left and one to her right, and they hauled her around around the field, stopping to let her touch each base. Now *that* was a decent thing to do, and made for the first sports story I have appreciated since....since Michael Jordan played an amazing game while dealing with a 103 degree fever and the flu or Mary Lou stuck that vault landing on a bum leg/knee. And those have been awhile. Sports these days are usually punctuated by players arrested for drugs, violence, spousal abuse, getting in fights, etc. So I wanted to send out a nod to these ladies. Nicely done; that was a class act.
Danica Patrick did an interview with our local television crew, and one part made me laugh. She was driving her normal car with a reporter, and you hear her say "Oh, don't do it." Then a car pulls out right in front of her, and she swings over into the other lane and says "I mean, Seriously!?" She sounded like ME!! Or maybe in this context, I should say I learned today that I sound like she does. ;)
Steve and Kaylee got a lot of work done hanging clothes in her room today. She still has more to do, but they made an impressive dent on it today. Steve is feeling a lot better. He's still coughing and stuffy, but he's basically back and swinging. Me? I've passed into fairly miserable late tonight. Achy, can't breathe, and it just hit from the time I started this post to the time I finished it. Boom-feeling miserable. Steve keeps trying to get me to use his Neti Pot where you pour water in one side of your nose and flush out your sinuses, but it isn't happening. I can't do that. So I guess I'll start in on the oral drugs before bed tonight and hope it passes quickly. There's too much to do to be 'down'...
