It was a working morning, a leisurely lunch at Applebees, a bit of an errand run, and a trip out to Kokomo to do a few things. When I came out of the hangar at Kokomo, I looked around and realized that it was a white-out. Normally it takes me about 8-10 minutes to get to Kaylee's school from the airport. Today I got stuck behind a very large piece of equipment that was pulling out of the airport, and they went the same way I did at a blistering pace of 10 mph. After they turned the way I needed to go-again-I decided to go the long way. I assumed that even though it was longer, I could go faster, and that anything is better than 10 mph behind a big thing I can't go around. (I wasn't sure my car could do a sustained 10 mph cruise for that matter.) Unfortunately, the roads were getting a little more slippery, and traffic on the highway was doing a whopping 30 mph. It took me 20 minutes to get to Kaylee's school, but I wasn't the only one late. By the time I got there, things were *definitely* getting slick, and on the trip from school to gymnastics, I actually slid around a couple of times. My car is rear-wheel drive, and any time I accelerate, my rear-end will fishtail, skid, slide, whatever. So going from a stopped position and trying to accelerate to make a turn gets tricky. I actually had a little fun with it a couple of times when nobody was around. Carefully, of course. When I got home I found out we're in for another Winter Storm Advisory/Warning/Whatever. We should be getting another dose of snow by morning, too...
While I was at gymnastics today, I fell asleep sitting upright in a metal chair in a loud room. It was about 20 minutes that I was out, and I'm thankful I don't snore or drool or sleep with my mouth hanging open. *sigh* I'm just...tired.
Everything is going well with the airport stuff, thanks to much help from Steve, Greg, Justin and Sarah, along with several other people whose contribution of making this an easy transition is greatly appreciated! Hmmm, I wonder if April Fool's Day was really the best choice to promote officially 'opening for business' out there. ;)
