Progress!

Well, it turns out that we made a good decision not to travel this weekend, as coming home today would not have been a very good option. The clouds were lower than they were forecast to be, which would have been a bit of a bad deal. Ice + Little Airplanes + Limited Options = Problems. :)

Last night I slept in the tent in our living room with Kaylee. She woke me up this morning by putting her face close to mine, then with a big grin saying quietly "Good Morning, Sunshine!" It was cute, and she was surprised and happy to see me in there, which made a night of sleeping on the floor worthwhile.

Today we actually accomplished quite a bit. We got all our Christmas stuff down and put away and back in the garage. Ten boxes of house decorations, two trees and all their decorations, wreaths, Christmas mugs/cups/candles, all of it. My front living room is now back in order with furniture moved, floor vacuumed, and pictures back where they belong. That always feels good, having your rooms back in order. But man is that a "Blah" job. It took us about 8 hours working on it off and on pretty steadily. We took breaks to watch the Colts game, sadly. That was pathetic, and we're out. *sigh*

Kaylee did a lot of work today too. She cleaned up a lot of her room, she took most of the bows and ornaments off the tree, took all the little Christmas stuff around all the rooms and put them together on the table for us to pack, etc. She also was doing her chore of filling up the cat food and water dishes, when she spilled a whole lot of dry cat food all over the kitchen. Not only did she clean up all those little crunchies by hand (ALL over the floor), she got the vacuum out on her own and swept up the dust that it left behind, doing a very thorough job. I mention it because sometimes there have to be reminders about 'attitude' when doing chores or cleaning messes, but she really did a good job today and deserves the kudos. :)

I did some straightening and laundry too, dishes, getting ready for tomorrow (our super busy day), and generally it's been a good family day, but a busy one! I'm just pleased to get the Christmas stuff done for another year, personally. One less thing on my "Major Projects That Need Done Now" list. :)

I'll end with this note that Kaylee wrote for us. Note the two cats along with the three of us in the family portrait below. ;) When she showed it to me, I was torn between laughing and "Awwwww". After I read it, I explained to her that most likely Mommy & Daddy would get old and die first, and she looked at me and said "Well then you can take this with you to heaven to remember me until I'm with you." And THAT made me say "Awwww".
