Monday in Review

I hate it that by the time I get around to writing an entry I've forgotten the fun or cute stuff that happened that day. I had two things I thought to myself "write about that", and now that it's midnight, I've totally forgotten. *sigh*

I got up early this morning so I could get totally ready before I took Kaylee to school. She was a little hard to wake up this morning. For some reason she seems to want to stay up half the night, and sleep in until 8:30 or so...

After I dropped her off, I came home and worked on Our SMA Angels guestbooks. Devon's guestbook is open again, as are about six other kids. I had to shut down the main guestbook and almost all of the hundred fifty plus guestbooks on the kids' websites because nasty spam just overwhelmed them. I couldn't keep up with all the spam on all the sites, and the spam was bad pornographic stuff. And then the spam got so prolific it would totally overwrite the whole page, meaning all the real entries people made over the months/years were destroyed. It was pretty sad, actually. I lost dozens of guestbooks full of entries for kids before I realized what was happening and got the rest shut down, where they stayed shut down for almost three years, unless a parent had the software and could delete the spam off the site themselves and wanted to do that to maintain it. But last night I got a surprise email from Justin (also currently known as "Sir"...nah, let's make that "King") that there were guestbooks set up and ready to be hooked up on all the angels sites that would be spam resistant and easy for the parents to maintain on their own. Are those angels I hear singing all around? ;) I've been working on getting them linked up and edited so they look like the rest of the parent site, which takes me a little time as I'm weak on html. I have a Lot more to do! You know, normally I'm not that fond of surprises, but that was a good one, undeniably!

I headed out at lunch and met the fellows at Applebees, where I learned of the next trip to California, which is next Monday, for a week. I also had fairly good shrimp and a cup of coffee to warm myself up considering it was below freezing and gray and spitting snow today. We go to Applebees often enough that when I ordered Coffee instead of Raspberry Iced Tea, even the waitress stopped in surprise. I left there and did the errands. Ran to the ONE pet store in town that has the automatic kitty litter box plastic poo catcher boxes and got the last two packages of those off the shelf, went to the post office, and went to the grocery store to pick up all the things we were out of, which included milk, Diet Coke, and toilet paper. Now THAT is an emergency run!! I came back and worked on guestbooks some more, then went to pick Kaylee up from school. She had ballet next, and Steve surprised her (and me) by showing up. I was sitting there reading my book and watching her, and suddenly this guy was standing next to my chair. I ignored him for a few seconds, but he didn't move away, so I glanced up at him with that faint irritation I do so well. ;) Steve laughed at my face/expression. Kaylee did a serious double-take out on the dance floor too once she saw him. And Steve enjoyed seeing her practice her routine. (In his humble opinion, she's one of the best ones out there.) ;) We stopped at the little ice cream shop next door, and I let her get a little iced coffee drink. Parent of the year award here. All I can say is, she doesn't drink a single thing but water, milk, orange juice, hot chocolate and lemonade up to 7 years old, and I hope to keep her away from pop for a little while longer. This was the third time I've ever let her get a flavored iced coffee thing, because she loves the taste. Just a special treat thing, but still, not so good. Just what a very...active...child needs--CAFFEINE! ;)

I dropped her off at cheer and came home and did some work. When I picked her back up at cheer, she told me she had been moved to the front of her little group in the dance routine, with another girl, because they knew it the best in her group and could 'lead' the group in that section of the cheer. She was pleased with that. :)

Arby's for dinner, as is usual on Monday nights, time to come home and do homework, and finally time for her to go to bed and me to...yep, work on guestbooks. lol I'm sure I'll get faster at it as I get used to it. Oh, did some domestic stuff too. Laundry, dishes, just stuff nobody cares about except for us since now we have food, towels and...delicates...again. ;)
