Storming

This morning was Physical Therapy on my knee. It looks like I only have a couple of degrees of bend left, and when I push it I think I get it all the way straight again, no bend. So I've been doing exercises to strengthen the muscles around it again, and he scrapes it with some metal blade thing with some massage cream so it doesn't hurt as much in order to stimulate blood flow to the area, for healing. I just have to find a pair of shorts to wear besides the one pair I have that won't gap open when you're doing leg lifts and such on a table in a room with 60 other people. ;) Anyway, I think I'm getting there.

I had stolen the keys to two hangars--Jerry's Citabria hangar key and John's C-421 hangar key--so I went back out to Kokomo to deliver those so the guys could get into the hangars to do various things. A huge storm shelf was out there and getting closer, and it was ugly. Big, dark evil blue/black, and ugly. I suggested the guys close up the hangar doors in case we lose power again, and I got out of there before it hit so my car wouldn't get hail damage again. It was creepy looking out there.

Morgan had driven up to fly with a student which obviously didn't happen, so we drove into town and had some Lord's Chicken (Chick-Fil-A) because Steve wanted chicken strips brought home to him, where he was staying home and working and catching up on billing and such all day. We sat there and watched it rain a bit, but the worst of it went north of the town. Fortunately the airport did not in fact lose power.

Morgan has been on a bird strike. She and I hit one in the Luscombe a few weeks ago. Then when she was flying the C-45 in Chattanooga, she hit a bird there. Then last night she was in a C-172 and a hawk flew right into her prop. I was sitting in a school board meeting last night when she texted pictures to me. The first one was a hawk body on the runway, and I was like awww. Then a second picture came through. I pulled it up, couldn't tell what it was, zoomed in on it, and it was a Hawk Head. A complete, severed hawk head sitting on the ground, eyes open, staring at me. I made a snort/squeak noise that made 11 people turn and look at me and had to put my phone away. So that's three birds she's hit. She detests birds by the way, she's scared to death of them. So today we leave Chick-Fil-A and she goes to get in her car, and a feather floats down and lands on the seat of her car. She's almost officially freaked out at this point. ;)

This is also her last week. She starts her new job Monday. She has to meet with John to talk about what her training is going to be about, and then she has three days of training in Texas somewhere, and in the meantime she's going down there while they all try to figure out what her job exactly is going to entail and what she's going to be doing. My guys texted about a flight next week on the same day as another flight, so I sent a mass text out to them to let them know Morgan wasn't going to be available as a back-up pilot much if at all for a little while here, and why. (So there go my haircut appointments and doc and probably PT appointments and such too). We're wandering into the unknown part of it, the "it's really happening now" part of it, and probably the fate of the T-6 by the end of the week too. I don't have a good feeling about it.

I need to get an airline ticket down to Birmingham for Friday, as I'm going to be doing BOB rides this coming weekend down there. I have trips here Wednesday and Thursday, so I can't do it those two days, but at least we can hit the busier weekend. Glenn will be there doing T-6 rides in Nella. Something I need to go take a checkride in if I'm going to be able to fly it any more too.

And that's about it for now up here. Stay tuned.

Oh, these are "Disappointing Affirmations" from a calendar that showed up on my Instagram. I apologize to anyone who may be offended by the language herein, but I found them darkly amusing right now.

Hanging ON Video for those with Instagram ;)
