That did open the day up for other things. So later that morning I went out to Kokomo, we pulled BOB back out, and I ran it up again and did a full run-up, mag checks, system checks, baro pressure ground run check, full power check (that one's hard to hold), full feather check on the new engine/prop, all the things. Everything looked good except a slight leak on the prop hub that didn't start happening until after I checked the feather function, and a dead right vacuum gauge. We also don't know if the airspeed indicator is working, as when I flew it home from Alabama, it was not. Won't know that until I fly it, which I can't do until they finish paperwork and some other things. Soon, I hope.
Next up I needed to get John's Bonanza to Shelbyville for its annual, which expires in 4 days, two of which I have trips on. So I wasn't sure when I was going to get that done, but today was the day. I called him and he came out and flew us up there in his plane. He hadn't flown it since last August, after losing his medical. I keep telling him to call me, or keep asking if he wants to go fly, but he doesn't want to be a bother so he won't. I need to force him more often. He enjoyed the flight. Morgan came and got us in the Aerostar. Weather wasn't great, and we had to balance between going after the fog (barely) burned off and before the thunderstorms came raging in. We timed it perfectly, thank you.
I came home in time to close the deck up and wait for the big storms to hit, which they did around 4:30 or so. The airport lost power, and Jon hadn't gotten our hangar door down yet for some reason, so he is sticking around out there awhile hoping the power comes back up relatively soon. The airport loses power about every time there is a big storm, we all know this, so it would be a good idea to close it up before that hits. Steve and I took a quick nap, we're wiped out, but my ring says I only got a 14 minute nap before the thunder woke me up. Better than nothing. I'm pooped today. That 6:20 am wake-up for no money wasn't worth it. ;)
I picked up the mail, made an appointment to get my windshield wipers replaced on my car, and started working on some other projects. Tomorrow is my ortho appointment and my car appointment. I have to get out to Tulsa to pick up a new Bonanza at some point this week, have trips Wed & Thurs in the Cirrus/421, with Nathan's funeral on Friday, so will have to see how that works out. I think I'm having to airline out with the new owner and fly back with him. We're working on insurance now, and the company is the same one who insures Nathan's airplanes, so they started the conversation of when the insurance comes due on the Aerostar and T-6. I don't know dates yet but I don't want to hear this part... The T-6 insurance was the only thing Nathan still paid for any more, and it was $10,000.
So that's my Monday. I'm off to put a pizza in the oven for some quick and easy dinner.
