Weekend Outlook

I'm sitting here updating my blog with one blurry left eye and one clear right eye. Considering I had to swap out both contacts at the same time, I'm not sure why the right one isn't blurry too, but if I can get past the left one getting blurry, before the right one gets blurry for a couple days, maybe life wont' be too bad with replacing both at the same time. ;) My vision itself and my eyes seem to be fine after their little 100LL bath, at least!

Yesterday was so pretty. I went out to Kokomo in the late afternoon, and first I pulled out the 340 and topped it off, added oil to both engines, got a box of oil from the back and put it in the spot for the 340 because we ran out of oil, and basically got ready for Monday's flights. Then Morgan and I went up flying in the Champ, for her birthday. Just went around and hit takeoffs and landings with the window cracked open and the sun beating in. It felt so nice. We stopped so she could hit the bathroom, then she hopped in the back and did a few TOLS from back there, too. A nice way to spend the first official day of Spring.

We all went out to dinner afterwards. Me, Steve, Morgan, Cameron W. and Josh F. who were all there hanging out. Went to Pastarrific. Sang Happy Birthday to Morgan loudly to embarrass her, successfully.

Came home and watched The Madison, which is really...poignant. Leaves you feeling melancholy after about every episode. Taylor Sheridan is good at that, if nothing else. The man is prolific in what he creates, and I haven't so far seen a single thing he's created that I haven't appreciated in some way. The gritty hard "Lioness", the devastating "1886", humorous-ish "Tulsa King", "Bass Reeves", "Landman", I haven't not liked any of them. I haven't liked some parts of them, but as a whole, they've been really well done. When Steve saw an episode of "The Madison", he said "Is this a Taylor Sheridan show, because the music sure sounds like it". Yes, yes it does. Sweeping, epic music with sweeping, epic landscapes and views. "The Madison" deals with the death of a much loved spouse; the elements of grief are eerily spot on. Normally I'm not a fan of flash-backs, but it doesn't really work without them. Kurt Russell and Michelle Pfeiffer being the headliners is wild.

On health updates, so I've been wearing this Oura ring for awhile now, and I've been working on one thing at a time as it gives me data. First up was my sleep. My sleep was terrible, it was starting to affect my work and everything else. So I have been going to bed earlier, prioritizing getting good sleep, and life has definitely improved. The one thing it keeps coming back to is that my Deep Sleep is not good. I almost never get enough deep sleep. I'm not sure what to do about that, considering I'm sleeping many more hours and at more regular times than before. So I'll have to do some more research on if there's any way I can improve the deep sleep part. I've even tried taking a sleeping pill to see if that helped, but it doesn't. But the sleep has definitely improved.

The next thing to work on according to The Ring is "cardiovascular health". It says my cardiovascular age is above my actual age and I have low Vo2 Max, or cardio capacity. Too sedentary, not enough exercise.  Which of course I knew, but not that my cardiovascular age is 10 years older than my real age. It determines this with a bunch of science in the ring including PWV or Pulse Wave Velocity, all sorts of stuff. It has you do a six minute walk outside and measures your parameters, and it kicked back that I need to work on cardiovascular stuff. It always comes back with ways to do improve, tips you can do to help various areas too, which is nice. It's also nice to be able to monitor. For example, seeing my sleep scores and times improve over the last couple of months, seeing my cardiovascular age go from 11 years to 10.5 years older than I actually am, aka improvement in the last couple of weeks. I find it interesting, and helpful.

Steve is working outside, it's nice, I"m going to hit lunch here, and get ready for tomorrow's flights.

Me and Morgan on her birthday Champing around.
