I did meet Steve, Chuck, and Chuck's nephew and his wife for lunch, ran through a car wash to try to get the concrete bugs off the car, and out to Kokomo to pick up my new phone. After that, I came home and didn't leave again.
Once I got my phone, I spent a lot of time being very careful and making sure I did everything right on transferring my old phone over to my new phone. The most annoying part was that I had to call Verizon at a specific number, and I couldn't use either my old phone or my new phone. So you have to have a 3rd phone in order to activate your new phone. Steve was gone all day, Kaylee was at work, so I texted Morgan and asked her to call the number and plug in my phone number. She did, I got a text, I tried to activate, but it said their activation center was "temporarily down" and to try again later. Well, then, she had to go fly, so about 4 hours later I texted Kaylee at work and asked her to do it. She did, and that time it went through.
All my stuff transferred perfectly. I went through and made sure I was logged into everything appropriately, then I went through my old phone and removed it from "Find my iPhone" and removed it from my ForeFlight choices. Then came the scary part. Completely wiping out my old phone. Done.
Next up was sending it back in to Verizon. I'm going to get $150 back for sending in my old phone, even in its current condition, which is fine except for the back. I took off the case that had kept it together this whole time, and carefully put it into the provided envelope, into the provided box, taped it up and put on the provided shipping label. They sure do make this easy enough for even dumb folks like me to figure out. ;)
So as of now, I'm up and running with the new iPhone 16 Pro. I dig the camera. I spent a lot of time making sure it was set up how I like it. The only thing I didn't like is that they forced me to update to iOS 26.0.1 before they'd let me turn it on, and that's not cleared by ForeFlight yet. Both ForeFlight and MyFlightBook have said not to update to 26 because it's super buggy. But I had no choice. So...I hope it's not too bad. *sigh*
I don't have a phone case yet--that shows up tomorrow. And I don't have a grip on it to hang on to either, that's also in the mail. So by all that's holy, I can't drop this phone before at least the protective case gets here. ;)
One of my online pilot friends has a contact who is a guide for the Grand Tetons, and he sent me the info, which I passed on to Kaylee. She was really excited to get it, and is excited to dig into this mountain climbing thing some more. She said that might be easier to do than the one she was originally looking at first, because it's a guided climb.
That's about it. I haven't had dinner and it's 9:20 pm, but I just now got hungry, too. I had a handful of walnuts and that's not going to cover it. So I guess I'll see what I can find over here. Tomorrow I think I'll try to move the T-6 back home, maybe get an oil change in my car, get my phone case hopefully, no other real flying until Thursday I believe it is...
