Nebraska

Alarm goes off at 5 am, and I’m up and at ‘em. I get to Frankfort by 6:30 am, pull out the Conquest and get everything ready to go by 6:45. They show up at 6:50, we load up, and…the left engine won’t start.  It won’t start normally, it won’t start manually. I try multiple times, try multiple things. I reset all the circuit breakers-again-and give it one more shot manually. And it fires off. It’s a starting problem, not a running problem. We took off and went to Beatrice, Nebraska, which is pronounced “Be-AT-triss” not “BEE-a-triss” and sounds so very wrong. Oh, and they have a Louisville around here that they actually pronounce “Lou-iss-ville”. So wrong.

Anyway. It’s 2.5 hours over to Beatrice, a little weather again, we land. I go in and tell them they can top it off, because their fuel is only $3.59/gallon which is amazing. He says they don’t have a truck and I’d need to go over to the pump. I’m not going to start it up again to do that, and I have enough gas, so I say forget it. I spent the next two hours going back and forth with maintenance, Ethan, Andy, Steve, everyone. We’ve decided I’m going to land at Frankfort, drop off my two pax, with the engines running, then fly right over to Toledo for them to work on the starting problem. Ethan gets a chartered flight for his Colorado trip. Andy says he’d rather I just come get him in the Meridian on Saturday instead, even though it’ll be slow and probably a fuel stop. I have to leave very early, and Friday night I’ll be out late with Dustin in the 340. Always goes like that. Feast or famine.

So we get in the plane to come home, cross our fingers, say a prayer, and it lights off with no problem. Next time they go to start it in TOL I hope it won’t start, because there’s nothing like finding a gremlin that isn’t gremlin-ing when you’re looking at it. And I need them to fix it. By Wednesday I’m taking Andy down to Marco.

Then flying along here I get a text from Kevin’s person Julie who says they want to take two trips, one next week and one the 25th or 26th. The Cheyenne is down for months. Which means I need to use the Conquest. The 26th is my dental surgery and I’m not moving that, so the 25th it is, and next week the Conquest is in maintenance Mon-Tues and hopefully a trip Wed, so I told them I need to get permission and it would have to be Thursday or Friday. So many houses of cards.

I’m currently flying home from Nebraska at 29,000’. Morgan is supposed to pick me up in TOL in the RG, and I need to communicate with a couple people about the rest of this. I’ll have to go in and add photos to these last three posts when I get back on my laptop. For some reason Google on neither my iPad nor my iPhone will let me insert photos in the blog any more. Annoying…so I’ll update this if there’s anything to update, later, and add photos.

Kaylee had a good second day as well. She's excited because she had her first ever client no show her, which happened All The Time at Radiant, but here it's different. Here, they get charged the full price to the client for not showing up, and most importantly, the front desk does it all. THEY call the clients and tell them they didn't show and are being charged, they reschedule the appointment, they deal with all of it. The therapist doesn't have to do anything, and Kaylee was so excited about that she called two of her therapist friends from the other place to tell them about it and they both told her "screw you" basically. lol The client who no-showed her ended up coming in later that day after misunderstanding what time they were supposed to meet, so got charged twice for the one appointment. But it doesn't go against her productivity, and she's just still rather pleased about it. Today she has one session with someone in the afternoon, but she's going in this morning to shadow someone else through a specific process. She was also just added to a group chat of three other women who all have black and white tuxedo cats like Kaylee, and they are sharing cute pics of their cats. She's fitting in just fine. ;)

On the wall in Nebraska

Steve got me a window shade for the Charger, so I tried that out today.
