Oklahoma

Can't say it without singing it.

I didn't sleep well; that often happens when I know I have to wake up super early. It's like my brain is already on alert, already ready to go, and won't let me just go OUT out like you do when you know you don't have to get up in the morning at any particular time. I looked at the clock at 4, and 5, and got up at 5:15 and gave up.

I met two guys at Kokomo, a father and son, loaded up in the Cheyenne, and headed West to Ardmore, Oklahoma. When we landed a medical van was waiting, along with about 5 EMTs and firefighters. It had a little pace called "The Line Shack" for an FBO, and it was a tiny little wooden shack stuffed with memorabilia and cool old stuff. I topped off the airplane while they looked everything over, and then I got in, and they loaded up Vicki with the two broken legs and broken wrist and other things. She was on a stretcher and slid in, and they did a good job with it. It took us another 2 hours to get home, pretty smooth air. When we landed at Kokomo, there was another crew there waiting to offload her, and this took awhile longer, because this crew didn't have the time the other crew had to look things over ahead of time. We were also having the Squirrels out there, and it was over lunch time, so *everyone* was out there in the big hangar. We had a whole circus going. :) She was offloaded safely, I cleaned out the plane, and she was off to recuperate at home with her own doctors and family. There's no way they could have done airlines because her legs couldn't bend, and driving would have been terribly long and painful riding legs straight out in the back of a van over all the bumps and road and stops and stuff.  This was hard for her, but it was the least hard of the hard options. Glad I could help.

I stayed for the Squirrels talk by Dave J on aerobatics, which was interesting, and pizza lunch, headed home because I was too tired to hang out in the heat. Steve and I will hit dinner, and call it a day.

I got a call from the place that was going to pull my bad tooth but didn't have an appointment until July. Well, it's July, and they called and said my appointment was still on the books. I was like "I had told them to cancel that". The tooth was bad in April, man. I wouldn't have made it until tomorrow to get it out. Unreal. I told them to cancel the appointment, I'd ended up in the hospital from the infection and it was taken care of months ago. (thanks for nothing)

I've been watching "Angel Studios" movies lately. They're pretty well done, wholesome entertainment, but good stories, a lot of true stories. I watched one true story about the Afghani girls' robot competition dream team called "Rule Breakers". Good movies! The one I'm watching today is "Just Let Go". Another true story one of a man whose wife, unborn son, daughter and younger son were all killed by a teenage drunk driver, and his path to forgiveness and letting go. Less funny or entertaining than most of them, but still pretty good if you're in the right mood for serious/sad/deep. Maybe that's my penance for watching a horror movie the other night. ;)

I've had a lot of scheduling stuff. Purdue wanted a flight, but I'll be in Colorado at the wedding, which I hate to do because we're using Kevin's plane a ton and now when he wants a flight, I can't. But there's nothing I can do about that unfortunately. I've got a Wednesday flight for Nick R in the 340, had to move some stuff around on that but finally got it worked out. Thursday morning I'm taking the T-6 to Muncie to get the Transponder check done on it, and then in the afternoon I'm supposed to meet up with a guy who wants to look at Ethan's 340 to buy it. Ethan asked if I could and take him for a quick flight if need be, and I said sure. Then I got an email from that guy, and he said he was going to look at maybe our plane, maybe one in Texas, or maybe one in N. Carolina, and he'd let me know before Thursday morning. Well, that annoys me. I'm blocking off my afternoon for you and you're gonna let me know if  you're coming up here or not the night before, so I don't have time to schedule anything else if you're not coming. I had to not respond, because I wanted badly to say "Okay, that's fine, when you let me know if you're coming, I'll let you know if I'm still available or not." But it's not my plane, my sale, or my money on the line, so I just shut up and didn't say anything at all. Next he emails me that he'd like to do a "short flight", go up to 20,000' and see what the TAS is up there at 65%. Going up to 20,000' in the 340 is not a "short flight". It's a trip, and it's going to take the better part of an hour to go up there, file IFR, go somewhere, come back down, etc. So I text Ethan and am like...he's paying for that gas, right?! So for now I haven't answered him while I let the other two (owner and broker) figure things out.

Am tired; low sleep will do that for ya, on top of a early, hot day. Probably not the best time to mess with me. ;)

I am thinking of changing my license plate to this. It amuses me.

Our back yard last night walking back from taking care of Molly. It was actually pitch black out so I should probably adjust the contrast. Maybe I'll do that and repost tomorrow.

Kaylee's back yard and deck and the moon. Same.

Plane getting topped off, with the guys in OK checking out the back to load her up

The inside of "The Line Shack", different angles. It's pretty cool
