The patient is doing okay. I have been strictly following the rules on the paper. It said not to lie down the first night, so I slept in the living room Lazy-Boy again, propped up. It said to repeatedly rinse with salt water after the first day, so I’ve been doing that every few hours. It said to regularly take an anti-inflammatory, so I’ve been taking a Motrin every 4-6 hours. Occasional ice pack to the face, check. It said to try to eat regular food after the first 24 hours so your jaw didn’t stiffen up, so today while I had Greek yogurt for the probiotics and chicken soup for nutrition, I also ate a blueberry bagel and chewed *very* carefully on the left side. So far so good. It says drink as much fluid as possible as hydration is important following surgery. I’ve been doing that. It said remain relatively quiet, and rest. I’ve been doing that, even though it’s a beautiful Spring day with light winds and blue skies and flowering trees and it’s a perfect fly day and I’m sitting at home. I was even asked to fly a guy to Ohio to pick up his airplane and I said no. I am doing my best to be the perfect patient. When I woke up this morning my face/jaw wasn’t super happy, so I started in on the ice pack again, and within a couple of hours it was feeling better again.
Other than doing laundry, dishes, switching out purses, and ordering a little pill holder thing for my purse off of Amazon, I have been doing nothing but recuperating like I’m supposed to. Tomorrow at this time I’ll be headed to Indy to get on the airline flight to Grand Junction. At least my weather home looks good, I think!
