The three of us went to lunch afterwards, and then I drove out to the airport and met up with Morgan, flew in the back of Chuck's Citabria with her. She had to put it away to go fly with students, so I then took up what I call the Green Machine, a C-150 Texas Taildragger owned by the aircraft sales shop on field. The last time I took it up I came really close to losing control of it because of how bad the gear was. The tailwheel shimmy was so violent I almost couldn't keep it on the runway no matter if I did a super slow 3-point or a tail low wheel landing or nothing. I tried two or three to make sure it wasn't me, and then I put it away and told him it tried to wreck me. That was 9 months ago. Today he said it was fixed, so I took it up. It was better, but it was not fixed. My first landing was a 3-point, and the shimmy was bad, and the wallowy gear was bad, and I scurched around on the runway. So I took off again, scurched on that too, and did a wheel landing which went better until the tail came down with the shimmy. But again, was better, I didn't think I was going to lose it, I just had to fight it. There's a difference. lol Either it sucks, or I do, and I'm not convinced which one it is. Some other pilot took it up and did a three point landing and said he thought it was all right. I'm out here yee-hawing and sloppy, like...really!? It feels so wallowy and sloppy along with the shimmy. Is the other guy nuts, lying, stupid enough to not know what a bad landing is, or did he get lucky and have one landing that wasn't shimmying?
Going to test run BOB's engines tomorrow if all goes well. Do my T-6 ground school Sat morning and JP's birthday party Sat evening, fly to Colorado and back on Sunday. Onward.
