Whoops

Steve has a lot of projects to work on around the house, and they’re not stuff I can really help with. Putting the toilet back together back by our bedroom and fixing the floor under it. Getting rid of some mold or mildew that had suddenly started growing on the ceiling of our wooden deck. And then I went and did it today and made another bad project. I had a bag of green apples, a bag of carrots, and a bag of celery, and I juiced them all together before they went bad and we leave for 4 days. I put the celery tops and bottoms in the garbage disposal…and it blocked up down in the pipe where we can’t get to it. He was out at the airport meeting with two prospective students, came home to me having been unable to fix the drain, and had to go back out to Lowe’s, and back home now to try to fix it. We’re going to take the Christmas tree down this weekend too.

He just came in, he’d dropped off some food next door at Kaylee’s and there was a terrible burnt smell. A plastic cup thing had fallen down onto the heating coil in the dishwasher and melted onto it. So he just got to fix that too. He is feeling very annoyed about house projects right now! I don’t blame him. And I can’t really help, so I just sit here on the couch trying to be sympathetic and quiet. You women know what I mean!

I was supposed to take the Cheyenne to Massachusetts/Connecticut tomorrow, except they’re getting a “major winter storm” out there. I sent Kevin a heads-up with the weather, and said they may need to decide how badly they want to go there, and he said not that bad, and that’s canceled. So that’s good, actually, it was not a nice weather day, the runway was going to be bad if doable at all, and bad icing was likely too. So I’ll take tomorrow to be able to take the Christmas tree down and pack for Vegas on Monday instead.

Steve’s cousin Faith has been taking these “balancing drops”, says she’s sleeping through the night, a lot more energy, better digestion, has suffered with migraines for 40 years and hasn’t had one since. Her husband Todd saw her results and started doing the drops too, and his biggest achievement is a 10 lb weight loss and more energy so far. He’s hoping to be able to get off his blood pressure meds and is only 2 weeks in. They have concentrated amounts of a bunch of ‘natural ingredients’ in them. Too much effort to write it all out unless it ends up actually working, then I will. I thought I’d keep up on the turmeric because I know that helps, but decided to add those in and gave it a shot to see if it helped with my digestion or headaches too. This comes after my typical once a month time frame where I wake up 2-3 days in a row with a bad one. I had a headache two nights ago, and one last night. I’m tracking them, and this is a quantifiable result, so I’ll start the drops (under your tongue) and give it until the bottle runs out (a month?) and see what I think.

I had something fun happen today. I had asked Kim P, Doug Rozy Roz.’s partner, about flying to Puerto Rico, because they said they’d just done it. She let me know they went in on Southwest Airlines, so couldn’t help me, but she hooked me up with Eric Z, who owns an airline of PC-12s, the C-47 that Jordan Brown and I (well, HIM) flew off of in close formation, CAF member, etc., and she texted he and I. He got right back to me, asked me to call him, and ended up telling me there was absolutely nothing I needed to do or worry about since I’d be in US airspace all the way, not stopping anywhere else, etc. Then here’s the cool part. He let me know that his PC-12s run from San Juan to St. Barth’s every day, and if I wanted to I could dead head on one of his planes for free and spend the day in St. Barth’s. That place is aviation famous. It’s a 2100’ runway at the end of a hill on one side and water on the other. People stand on the beach right in front of the runway and get plowed over by prop blast, and airplanes landing over the hill not-infrequently blow off the end of it into the water. There are multiple compilations of airplanes wiping out there, you’re not allowed to go in or out at night, and you’re not supposed to land there at all without training there. I think that’s cool. And I get to go see it, be there, and spend the day there! I wish I could land the Conquest there. It could do it. The other day I landed on the 2500’ runway at Frankfort over a building and stopped by the taxiway before the end without even trying hard, and that would be about 2100’. Glenndale prepared me well. ;) But…the effort and cost of going to another country would probably be too much. But I’d love to be able to do it myself, not just ride through it, but…probably can’t do that. But anyway, I was pretty excited by that one. :) I now have something cool and fun to look forward to. A trip to Puerto Rico, AND St. Barth’s island. Maybe. It’s room dependent, so if an open seat is available, I can go, if not…but I’ll be there a couple days, and Steve too probably, so hopefully a couple seats will be open.

Partly I’ve felt a little glum because I’m flying wealthy people around to their fancy, warm, expensive vacations, all the time, every few months, and it just kind of showcases the difference between you and them, you know, even though several are friends. Yes, I get to be there too, usually briefly, sometimes for longer, but it’s their trip, you just sometimes get to ride the coat tails. But on the other hand, I DO get to go and do and see things most people don’t get to see and do, and I’m glad for that. Monday is Vegas in a nice suite in a nice casino with a great view and a bunch of time to go do whatever I want and eat good food. So…can’t whine about that, now can I. You just gotta watch seeing how the other half lives too much, because I’ve never really been an envious person, but you do a few things like Cayman, Marco, etc., and it’s hard to not want more of it. ;)  But being a pilot has given me the ability to travel like the Gypsy Blood me wants to travel, without the Not Rich me having to pay for it. So again…win/win!

Welp, off to finish watching the playoffs. Kansas City won with a little help from the refs. Detroit is up, we’ll see how that goes. Too bad Tom Brady is on here talking. I could do without his face/voice. ;)

And Steve fixed Kaylee’s problem and is now working on our toilet. Wish us luck!
