From there we had Hardees chicken for lunch out at the airport, and then I moved the Citabria and Champ and swapped hangars for both of them. The winds were now gusting to 23-25 knots, and moving around, so it was about a 40-50 degree crosswind. But Laura's Law: If you have to pull it out of the hangar and fire it up anyway, you have to at least take it around the patch. So I took the Citabria around first. It doesn't seem to handle crosswind as well as the Champ which is kind of nuts, but it runs out of authority first. Anyway, I took it around, then parked it in front of its new hangar. Pulled out the Champ and took IT up for about 4-5 landings, and then parked it in front of its new hangar. Moved all the stuff out of each hangar, put everything away. It was a nice little break of a day. Open window, almost 80 degrees and sunny, a little challenging wind conditions and tailwheel fun.
Steve and I met Kaylee in Marion for dinner, then got back home around 8, just in time to finish up some stuff and get ready for my huge day tomorrow. I'll be awake at 5:30 am and not home again until 1 am or so. I'll tell you about it tomorrow.
Oh, while I was over at Marion with D shooting approaches, I get a text from Kaylee that says "Pretty sure I just watched you come into Marion". I said "Yes you did--how'd you know it's me?!" She says "You went right over me, so I could recognize it's the 340. lol" I was really kind of impressed. I told her I'm doing someone's checkout in it for the year and she says "It didn't look like your flying". I told him that and he said "Aw MAN! And I liked her! She's dead to me now!" Made me laugh.
