I was up at 6 am, which wasn't fun with my cold. You know it's always worst late evening and early morning. But I got moving, and took my Claritin D, and some coffee and some water, for hydration and caffeination both, and got out to the Frankfort airport by 7:40 am. Still no other meds needed except at night when I load up with 1) Decongestant, 2) Flonase 3) NyQuil, 4) Magnesium, and 5) Melatonin, and when the sleepy kicks in, I pile the pillows up on the guest bedroom headboard (I don't have a headboard in my room) so that I can keep an angle at which I can hopefully breathe, ergo actually sleep, ergo be safe to fly. So far so good. I have been sleeping, and I have woken up slowly but okay once I get rolling.
Anyway, we loaded up 9 of us, including 5 kids who were all totally surprised about what they were doing, and flew them to Louisville, where they toured the Louisville Slugger factory. One young man was nervous about flying, but he ended up loving it. The grandpa who went was also apparently a little nervous because he asked if we could sit in the plane and pray before we fired up, so he prayed for a safe journey and a nice day, both of which were accomplished, at least. :)
They invited me but I stayed behind to put fuel in the plane, pay the bill, grab my own brunch at a place Kaylee would have LOVED with all these healthy options and gluten-free avocado toast and stuff. I had French toast with strawberries, and it was quite good. When I got done, I worked on stuff until they came back, and then we headed back. Uneventful.
But that leaves me time this afternoon for the first time in DAYS. I've been getting up super early and not getting in until late, and no time to do much of anything. So I need this afternoon.
This afternoon I called a floral department to get a batch of lilies to give to Kaylee on Monday. Tiger lilies are her favorite flower. I don't have tiger lilies, but I do have other lilies, so I think she'll like them. Monday is her "pinning ceremony" from the university's social work department, and I am walking across the stage to pin her. I could say something if I wished, I don't have to, but I don't know WHAT to say or how long to say or if I should or if everyone but me will or nobody but me would so I am probably not going to say anything unless inspiration strikes and everyone else is saying something too. I have to figure out what to wear, too. But Steve's up at Oshkosh, so it'll just be me this time. I needed to find time to arrange for the flowers, so finally got that done today.
My upcoming schedule is still crazy, so I've been doing my best to prep. I washed my flight suit and put the patches back on so that tomorrow I can fly the Aerostar (which I made sure was topped off and ready to go) to DuPage with Matt who is flying in from Texas so we can fly the C-45 and do his currency flight. We'll then give rides in DuPage until they close at 5 pm their time, 6 pm my time, then I'll fly Matt home, get back around 7:30 pm my time.
Sunday I'll be up at 5:45 am to go back to Teterboro, so I had to arrange with the Frankfort people how much fuel, who to bill it to, and what time to have the plane out, what I'll need when I get back for Monday. I arranged fuel in Teterboro to save time too, and money, because I researched the FBO that has CAA (cheapest) fuel prices and went there. Whenever I get out of there, I should be home before Frankfort closes, so they can top me back off.
Monday I have to be up at 4:45 am to get the Conquest to Toledo by 7 am so they can start working on some issues it's having, little glitches that need adjusted. They start at 7 and I have to be done and out of there by 2 because I have to be back at Frankfort no later than 3 (need to tell them what my fuel order and pull out time is) so I can drive to Kokomo by 4 so I can change clothes and pick up flowers and be in Marion by 5:15 so I can park and walk to the ceremony so I can be at Kaylee's pinning ceremony by 6. No idea what time I'll get back then, but here comes Tuesday...
Tuesday I have to be up at 5 am to take a plane full of people to Oshkosh just for the day. So I have to get an IFR time slot tomorrow for Tuesday, get the NOTAM, find the routing, prepare for all of that. Do the same for the IFR time slot out of there at the end of the day.
Then Wednesday I need to do the same thing for myself, in the Aerostar getting into Oshkosh to stay. This requires another time slot, most likely, and I need to call the airport and get ramp space reserved for me for the days I'll be there. And I need to pack for my stay at Oshkosh.
This isn't even everything I need to do, I know, I'm just scrambling to try to get everything together. Too bad I'm also sick, cause THAT helps. ;)
For tonight I'm working on the Oshkosh stuff since I got most of the other stuff ready, and I'm ordering in Japanese, and I'm resting a lot on the couch, and I'm gearing up for the insanity about to come.
I haven't even had two minutes to give a crap about politics, but holy cow!
