Sweat Shirts

It took me until 11:30 this morning to feel human again. I could have slept in, but I can't seem to do that any more, so I just stayed in bed until 8 am, which is almost 6 hours longer than I was in bed the other night, so hey.  lol  I got up at 8, and I had my morning vitamins, and I had a cup of iced coffee, and I had a bottle of water to rehydrate, and I just sat here. Steve left, I sat with the TV off and just stared into space for awhile and then slowly started feeling better. Took a shower, got ready, and wa-la, I was ready to go meet Steve, Chuck, Nathan & Kevin for lunch for the first time in awhile.

I then needed to leave at 1 pm to head down to Frankfort to get the 340 ready and head down to Jacksboro, TN again to pick up the crew I left down there. They had one fewer guy with them, so 200+ pounds less of humans and a couple fewer small bags. This is good because we're still heavy, it's still hot, and now it's a sloping runway on a high density altitude hot day with mountains around it.  I went in with minimal fuel needed to get us home with reserves. I had the unfortunate weather scenario where I could either take off into the wind, but it would be significantly uphill, or I could take off with the downward "launching" slope, but it would be a tailwind anywhere from 4-11 knots depending on the gusts at the moment.  That's not great.  I chose to go downhill, and plotted out a wide path clear of terrain where I could gain altitude. And I needed it.  I had informed them we wouldn't be doing this trip with this many people in this airplane ever again.

I'm on my way home and I get two pieces of correspondence. D asks if I'd be available tomorrow to take the MBros 340 to Michigan leaving at 7 am. Tomorrow I was supposed to take E to Colorado but the Conquest isn't here so he's using someone else. So Steve signed me up to help with the Squirrels again.  So yes, I can do MBros. But that 340 is in the back of the hangar behind the T-6 and a bunch of tables and chairs set up for the Squirrels, and it needs gas, and the FBO is already closed and will still be closed by 7 am. So I have to go out tonight when I get back and pull everything out and self-serve fuel it and put everything back away rearranged.  So I told him yes.  Then E emails me that the Conquest isn't coming back this week at all now, so the trip I have scheduled for his kids the 28th, and the trip for Andy on the 2nd, both need to be cancelled and they're all using other charters. I canceled a week of other things for all these trips because I was told there was too much going on this week, only to have it almost all be canceled anyway.  The airplane needs fixed, I want them to find and fix everything, obviously, but this is deja vu all over again.  It and the Cheyenne have both been down for two months now.  The Conquest is supposed to be back next week, but gee, where have I heard that before, eh?

I did really hurt my toe--it's purple now. If I'm wearing solid shoes, I can walk fine and don't even feel it. But when I take my shoes off in the house, I'm limping like crazy and it hurts to walk. I won't take a photo of my purple toe for you though. You're welcome. ;)

When I got back to Frankfort, they put the plane away for me, and I drove to Grindstone's to meet up with Spencer, AE, Steve and Chuck for a few minutes, didn't eat, before going out to Kokomo with Steve to pull the T-6 out, pull the 340 out, I taxied over and self-serve fueled it while Steve put the T-6 away, then I put the 340 away, and we finally got home around 8:30 or 9.  I will be billing them for that time, since they pulled it last minute, last day, after the airport was closed and all our people set up tables and chairs and went home for the day.

Morgan and her friend Reyna on the Women's Air Race Classic came in third place!!  She did great, as I knew she would.  :)

In these high humidity high heat days, my t-shirts stick to me, sweaty back, it's all gross. So I got these quick dry shirts, like fishing shirts, they're super light weight, you can make them long or short sleeved, and I started with a dark green one that's my favorite, and it is SO comfortable. You can barely feel it's on, it does not stick to you, and it does dry super quickly, so no heavy cotton sticking to my back. I liked it so much I went out and bought more like it in different colors. They look more like dress shirts than my Checkertail t-shirts too, so bonus for comfort and looking a little nicer both. I don't tuck them in, so not TOTALLY nicer, but still. I am pleased with them.

Well, I'd better get to bed, considering I need to leave the house by 6:35 which means I need to get up around 5:30 again tomorrow morning. Weather doesn't look great, possibly, thunderstorms, more heat.  We'll see.
