Drip

Today was supposed to be the nice day, so of course today was not the nice day.  I was awake at 5:30, out at the airport by 7. It was raining pretty hard and low IFR.  I had to go over to Delphi to pick up Stephen, and it was about 100' above minimums there, and it's only a few minutes away. So I took off at Kokomo, was in the clouds and rain right away, and headed right for the initial approach fix to do the approach into Delphi. Landed, picked up Stephen, and we went to Decatur, IL, where I had another RNAV approach to shoot down in the rain.  Topped off the Aerostar, took my 5th Tylenol, and went and got breakfast at the on field restaurant. Bacon and eggs, a little protein is good.  Dealt with some issues, communications, scheduling.  I spend a lot of time on that these days.

When Stephen and I left there, I dropped him back off at Delphi, where it was yes, still raining and IFR. Ethan was waiting and I took him over to Ohio to pick up the 340 out of maintenance.  Came back into Kokomo, where I shot the ILS 23 and circled to land Runway 5 into the wind.  That one wasn't low any more at least. Got on the ground, and Steve said the Citabria paperwork was done, and Jerry was on his way out to do his flight review.  Jerry has to do a flight review every year in his own exact airplane for the insurance company, because of his age in the upper 80s.  They won't even accept another Citabria.  HIS Citabria. So stupid. So anyway, we have a Young Eagles event Sunday and he wanted to give rides in his plane but couldn't until he had a flight review in the airplane, which just came out of annual after an engine issue.  I happened to get home just when the skies finally started clearing and just when the paperwork came in for the airplane. So he came out and we got it done.  Open door, it was finally a nice evening.

Came home and finished off some leftovers so they wouldn't go bad while we were gone.

Tomorrow is a busy one. I start out with a 9 am appointment, finishes at 11.  At 11:30 I'm meeting up with Tina, someone I went to school with in Wisconsin that I haven't seen since. She is driving through the area and asked to meet up for lunch. We were friends for like 8th grade, then a new girl moved in, and those two hit it off and became besties. When we moved to Nebraska, I never saw her again. She friended me on Facebook many years ago.  So this should be interesting!

After that, I load up and head in the T-6 down to Terre Haute, where I meet up with a bunch of people flying over to the TBM Avenger Gathering in Peru, IL. Morgan is going in with me. Steve is coming over Friday. We have most of our crew going along for a hopefully fun weekend. Saturday back at Kokomo is our Poker Run, and we'll be gone for it.  Sunday is a Young Eagle's event, and I'll still be gone for that most likely, but Steve'll be back.  A busy weekend.  Now we just need the weather to hold out and for everyone to be safe and have fun.

It ended up sunny in Decatur before I left there, for a few minutes.
