I woke up a text from the client saying two of them were sick and they would prefer a warmer day anyway, so can we go Thursday at 3 instead?
Yes. Yes we can. Thank you very much!
So I spent part of today rearranging that, arranging another flight on Friday, and then heard that our ride would be available to go pick up the Conquest first thing in the morning.
But Buffalo is in the middle of a terrible snowstorm. The FBO was closed yesterday at least. I call the mechanic to make sure I can get the plane out, no answer. I call the FBO, no answer. The mechanic calls back and says they are under a drive ban and nobody is out today or tomorrow, but the FBO might be able to pull me out tomorrow. The FBO calls me back and tells me that they will be out there tomorrow. The guy is calling me back from his house, the FBO's phone forwarded to his cell. He says, however, there is an NFL playoff game in Buffalo tomorrow and they are expecting to be slammed, so the sooner we can call in and ask to be in the queue to get out of that hangar tomorrow, the better off we'll be. Oh yeah. The playoff game. It's going to be a MESS out there on top of the feet of snow they've gotten.
So I text E back and he calls Gary and asks if Tuesday would work for him to run me to BUF instead. Better weather and a hellofa lot less traffic. He said sure.
Final tally--I've spent a lot of time preparing for things that never happened, and haven't gone anywhere. I've only flown 4 days this year, out of 14, and only two of those were trips, so that's not great. Fortunately I should have a few more coming up this week. Buffalo Tuesday, Orlando Wednesday, Wisconsin Thursday, maybe Nick to Missouri on Friday. So feast or famine, right?
I am not sorry to not be in Wisconsin today, however. I probably needed the time off even if I'm restless now. I've been sick, then I got sick again, the plane broke down, then it got nasty cold...I'm not going anywhere tomorrow either except locally, and then it's time to go go go again. So I guess I got a vacation whether it felt like one or not. ;)
