Saturday

I forgot, yesterday while I was watching the massive lightning show all around for 1.5 hours, I got close to home, and started seeing other flashes, and I was like...wow...is that cloud to ground lightning?  Nope, it was fireworks.  There were a lot of fireworks going off Friday night down low, so there was light happening up high and down low.

Since I woke up with a headache this morning, I didn't feel like doing the two things I was supposed to do today.  One was a fly-over of the Haynes Apperson 4th of July parade in Kokomo in the T-6.  The other was a cross country in the RG with an instrument student.  Steve basically bullied me into doing the fly-over by offering to do most of the work except for the flying part.  lol  So I got out there by 1 pm, we got the planes pulled out, fired up, and took off around 1:40 pm.  The fly-over was to be at 1:55 pm on the dot.  She was beginning the National Anthem at 1:53:30, and it takes 1.5 minutes to sing.  Steve had planned it out on ForeFlight, and was going to direct me.  He lost track of where we were and we weren't sure we hit it on the right street at all.  I found the courthouse again and did a circle over it just in case, and then landed at Kokomo.  The guy in charge on the ground said we came right down Main Street and nailed it and he was excited.  So that went better than we thought and I'm glad I did it. 

My next student, it was good we went too because we were able to go into the clouds and do some actual IMC, shoot two approaches, etc.  It was good experience and practice for her.  Now we just need lower clouds, a more solid layer for her to stay in.  Maybe some night IMC.

Kaylee came home, and we all went to eat at Red Lobster, with AE, because she and I had a craving for crab legs.  I got some covered in garlic butter and man was that messy. I couldn't grab a cup to drink, couldn't hold onto a fork, etc., because they didn't just have the butter on the side, they had steamed it in the stuff.  So it's not on the meat itself necessarily, but it's sure all over the outside where you're trying to crack the legs and get to it.  What a mess.  I had to use two napkins plus a hand wipe before I could even get up and go to the bathroom to properly wash the grease off.  Ha.

Tomorrow is my day off, I hope, and the weather doesn't look good, so there probably won't be much exciting to report.

Never heard on the Conquest that was supposed to fly today and didn't but I don't know why yet.
