After lunch, I had Cameron run me over to Williams County, Ohio to test fly and then pick up Ethan's 340. Windy, gusty, but clear day, so I took the 340 up to 17,500' to verify the pressurization, heater, and AC were working properly, and it was the first flight in the plane in over a month, since I landed it there with the gear busted up and down and bracketed in place hoping it wouldn't collapse. Anyway, it was a successful test flight, all was well, so I sent Cameron on to Frankfort and launched shortly after him. I beat him home so badly I had the hangar opened, the plane pushed away, the hangar closed, and hiked up to the FBO before he even landed. ;)
I stopped at DQ and picked up an Oreo Blizzard with extra oreo for Ann, pulled into the driveway, and she was sitting on the porch, got up and came to the door and stared and waved me over, while the cat saw me and started meowing loudly at me from the deck. The usual greeting I get any time I come home. So I go next door and do her meds and food and dessert, then come inside and feed the cat and change her water, and then I can figure out what I want to eat.
I need to fly the Ft Wayne T-6 while I'm here, but these winds are not cool for that.
The Conquest will be test flown tomorrow (sure, I've heard that for the last week...today or tomorrow, today or tomorrow, tomorrow for sure...) and then the pilot is flying it from Florida to me here in Indiana. At that point we're supposed to fly to Texas to pick up Mark F, my check pilot in the plane. Then he and I are flying it either to Colorado to pick up Ethan and then Minnesota to drop off the other pilot, or straight to Minnesota to drop off the other pilot, then back to Frankfort to do the ground. One way or the other I'll get ten hours in and be signed off. The rest is a who knows. And this is all predicated on no more problems down there, which I'm not willing to bet on at the moment.
So tonight I've been studying some of the Conquest materials I have. I have learned a few good tidbits I hope I remember, and then I stopped because if I keep reading it'll all blur together and I won't retain anything. I just want this chapter going. Let's get moving here.
It's the day with the most light of the year today. Summer Solstice. It's almost 8 pm here and still quite light out. I like this time of year the best. The long light evenings make getting night current hard in airplanes, but I'll take the extra time to go do things in the daylight any day of the week. Long live Not Winter.
I haven't taken any aviation photos in several days, nothing interesting to take a photo of. Just blue skies and wingtips, but without any interesting clouds, suns, ground features, nothing. Not even for me who takes the same picture of the same sunrise/sunset all the time. But I did take this photo in the car wash through my sun room. It was pretty. ;)
