On a Roll

I like it when I get into the motivated phases of life.  Today was one of those, so you accomplish a lot of things you otherwise put off for long periods of time.

I wasn't able to take my 1 pm flight, because it started snowing and ceilings dropped, so I wrote out a procedural email to her that was really detailed and took a long time, but will help her and others down the road.

I gathered up my receipts from my last MBros flights, scanned them in and sent them into their accounting, and sent a bill to Steve to send to them for my time.

I'm cancelling my B-29/B-24 groundschool.  Originally I had a cheapish hotel room, and a ride down. Now I don't have a ride down, so I need to get an airline ticket, which is almost $700 round trip.  We don't have the money for that right now, so I'm going to save the money on the groundschool ($95), the hotel ($90/night for 2 or 3 nights), and definitely the air fare.  I'll be around those guys in March on the Air Power History Tour, and be able to schmooze around then. I'll get the groundschools I need elsewhere as is.  So I spent time cancelling all that and getting my money back.

Next up I went to the Bose website, and hunted down my serial #, and sent in a request to have my headset gone over for maintenance. See, it has a 5 year warranty where you can send it in and get whole new parts on it, which only cost me the $11 it took to pay UPS to package it up for me.  So I'll get a new top pad, new ear pieces, new cord, new mic, etc., all for free.  The headset was bought by Ethan several years ago, and he gifted it to me for Christmas last year, and I have loved and used it to death, with the new Bluetooth stuff so I can listen to music, pick up clearances, make phone calls, etc. through my headset. It's fantastic. Anyway, there's only one year left on that warranty, and my headset got squished once, causing a piece of metal to poke out of one side/joint.  So today I went on their website, and submitted an order to have my headset looked over and fixed. They sent me the shipping label, I took it in to UPS, they boxed it and sent it, and Bose will completely refurbish it for me and send it back to me. I'll have to use a back-up older non-Bluetooth Bose headset until mine gets back, but it's winter, and I'll have a lot fewer flights than I will starting the Spring, so...good timing to do it anyway.  I'm pleased that I thought about doing it, because I'll basically get a brand new headset out of it, for free.

I ran out to UPS, and McCallister's to pick up dinner for Kaylee and Ann, and then stopped at a shoe place.  I have one beat up pair of summer tennis shoes and one pair of extra beat up pair of tennis shoes, and a pair of thick-soled boots that I can't really fly in but are good if I'm going out to shovel snow or something.  And a couple pair of dress boots that I wear when I dress up, with low and high heels both.  So I went out and got a pair of distressed leather looking ankle boots that I can fly in that look nice (to me anyway), and a pair of higher/above ankle lined boots that I can still fly in when the snow is taller, that I can wear thicker socks with.  Every winter I wear the tennis shoes most of the time, and if I wear my Smartwool socks it's better, but they are designed for breathing and letting air in during the summer. I don't need them to let air in in the winter. ;)  So I'm pretty pleased with those purchases.

When I got home, I took another bag and I went to the front closet where we keep a lot of our old shoes like...my old tennis shoes that aren't all ripped apart so I save as back-ups, flip flops that we grab when we're going to Oshkosh or beaches, water shoes, sandals, some of Kaylee's are in there, and some of Steve's, too.  I went through mine and Kaylee's, and ended up throwing away a trash bag full of old shoes that we just didn't need any more. When Steve came home, he went through his, and his were all legit. We'd gone through them last year or maybe the year before, and I just hadn't thrown mine away, but he did, so now we're all caught up. ;)  That makes 7 bags of clothes donated and 2 bags of things tossed, recently.  Next up is probably jeans/sweatshirts/t-shirts, which I've balked on because like I said, I need some time and space to myself and I don't get that very often.

Kaylee got out a couple of tubs, and we put extra hot water in them, and epson salts, and sat in our living room and soaked our feet while talking about life.  Then she had a tool that you could work on your feet regarding dry/dead skin, which we were doing when Steve walked in, which totally grossed him out.  He'd been doing his mom's feet, and he was now disturbed by feet, so he picked a bad time to come home. ;)

I went next door to Ann's about 3 or 4 times today. I was there to help when her new caretaker arrived. I was showing her pictures of her and Richard with the grandkids. She pointed at Richard and said "Oh! Who is that??!"  I felt my heart stutter for a second, but when I said "That's Richard!", before I could say "Your husband", she burst out singing and praising God, with a lot of joy in her face. It was sweet and sad.  She knew Stormy was coming, she got it, and then when Stormy got there, she reverted. "Who is that? Why is she here?" When Stormy tried to get her to go into the restroom to help her clean up, she made the mistake of saying "Would you like to follow me to the restroom?" and Ann was like "No."  I leaned over and said "It's best not to ask.", and then said "Go ahead with her, she's going to help you clean up". I could hear Ann arguing with her back there about sitting down, about taking off her socks, about all of it.  Finally they got started on a rhythm and I was able to leave.

Some things I have left I need to do maybe tonight, are hunt up some WASP photos to send to Rick B as he gave his granddaughter a WASP thing for Christmas and asked for some photos to go with it, and write a letter of recommendation for Spencer for his next employment, even though I'd prefer he stay here for several more years.

There's an app out there that will transform you into a super hero like character, but it's questionable on security, so I always ignored it. But then Tik Tok came out with a simple filter that will do something close, so I played with that today, and it cracks me up.  I can sort of see me in some of these, it's not you, but it's sort of you.  Kaylee started it. So I'll post both of our photos here and you can see for yourself. It's us-ish, but yet not us at all. But kinda.  lol

I think most of these do look like Kaylee

My favorite. ;)

I did an angry face, and that looks like me.  :D

This just looks creepy. I ought to try one where I'm smiling sweetly. lol

I don't think this has my face hardly at all...
