Round Two

Friday morning I flew with Eric in the RG to figure out some Approach/GPS stuff. Then Spencer and I flew in the RG back to Anderson, for Round Two of trying to get that sad T-6 out of there and to Marion. I got the fuel pressure working, and I got the hydraulic pressure working finally after several tries. I got it running, and Spencer found the oil leak with the cowling off, and it didn't look that bad. He took a video of it and showed it to Eric, the mechanic, and he told us that it's a split seal going into something with the magneto, but the problem is that this is the first place the oil goes, and that if that seal blows all the way, the rest of the engine will not get oil.  The plane hasn't run in a long time, and I can't run it at full power, so I can't know for sure how it will hold up on even a short 9 minute flight.  If I add full power and get off the ground and that seal blows, I'm trying to find a place to land it amongst trees and houses off the end of the runway.  So that sounds like a 'no thanks' to me, and we tied the plane back down, put the cover on, secured the controls, and headed back out of there in the RG, mission Still not complete.  But safe.  Next up I had an evening flight with Morgan in the RG going over approach stuff.

Kaylee has had my keys for the last week.  So Friday night when I was done with Morgan, I couldn't lock the hangar. I tried to use her key and couldn't get it to work, so I left.  Halfway home Steve said there's a spare key in Hangar xx, so I turned around and drove back there. The place where the spare key was supposed to be, the container was empty. We know who probably took the key and never replaced it and Steve will probably be yelling at him. lol  I leave again after trying to call Steve but he's busy.  So I get about 1/3 of the way home and Steve calls back and says "There's keys in the unlocked hangar".  So I turn around Again, go back, into the hangar, there is a ring of keys on there, and none of them work either.  I try to call Steve, he's not answering again, so I leave again. He calls on the way home and says those aren't the right keys and there might be more, but I'm done now. I go home and sit on the couch and unwind.  That was enough.

This morning I woke up super dehydrated and I don't even know why. Maybe I need a humidifier back in my room. Of course it gave me a headache too. I was able to go to breakfast at Glenndale, eggs and biscuits and gravy, and then I was home the rest of the day listening to the winds howl.  It rained, and we got winds over 45 mph.  The power went out at Kokomo Airport, I hear, but our house was good at least.   Kaylee drove home to deliver my keys, and it's been a quiet, nasty weather day.  Tomorrow I go to Malden, MO, will fly over the top of Cape and wave and say hi.  :)
