Renaissance

I felt like a real Renaissance Woman today.  That may not be the most accurate use of that phrase, but I'm going with it anyway.  I had a Discovery Flight with a flight attendant this morning, and she had a blast. A lunch break, then a quick trip around the patch in the Cheyenne before topping it off, with a max performance climbout.  Which is fun.  Then a crosswind lesson in the 172 with someone, good day for that, all gusty and stuff still. Time to head home, so I stopped at the grocery store on the way home and picked up a few things.  When I pulled into the driveway, Ann was on her deck waving me over, and Roadie was on our deck meowing so loudly I could hear her with my windows up in my car.  Both wanted fed and company.  I haul the groceries in, put them away, feed the cat. Take the cat back onto the deck when it looks like she's going to throw up in my kitchen. Put the clean dishes away, load the dirty dishes, take dinner over to Ann. Get her meds, get her dinner, come back and the cat wants more food. Now it's time to fix my own dinner. Messy cheese sandwiches were my craving for the day, so it took me half an hour to cook all the bacon we  had in there and make me and Steve bacon/cheese open faced sandwiches. Good stuff.  Then a large Fall spider goes walking by and I don't have spider spray, so I hope that ant and roach spray is still bad enough for him and douse him in a chemical bath and spend the next half hour staring into the corner he disappeared into.  Now it's time to plan my flight out to Durango, Colorado, then going to Gunnison, then over to Salida, then back to Kokomo. There's a line of weather in between us and them, and Colorado has been hit with its first snow, with more coming Wednesday, so I'm sneaking in tomorrow.  Still not the perfect day, but hopefully good enough.  Strong head winds, 3.5 out, almost an hour less coming home. Checking NOTAMS for every airport, and fuel prices. Gunnison's Jet A is over $10/gallon. Durango is $9.70/gallon. And Salida's gas, right on the other side of the mountain, is $6.54/gallon. So I need to plan how to stop at the first airport and take on enough gas to get to the third airport where I can put on just enough to get me back to Kokomo where the Jet A is $4.91/gallon.  Vs. $10.09/gallon.  Isn't that crazy?  Anyway. So after the flying, then there's the domestic duties, then the flight planning duties, and it made me laugh to go from a lesson to cat barf to turboprop planning.

The cat is eating okay again. Not as much as she was, not as little as she was. It's taking me a lot of work, just a little food at a time, all day long, and she'll eat some.  If you just leave a lot, she'll eat a tiny bit then let the rest rot and dry out.  Now we can't be here all day long to feed her 8 times in a day like I did on Sunday, but at least I got enough down her to not feel too nervous about it.  Dumb cat.

Anyway.  Back to it. I have weather to look at, a plan to make, and a very long trip to flesh out.
