Kids and Cats and Rooms and Problems and Not

Tuesday was our first day of the Flying Squirrels.  It was oven blast hot out there. We met at 9 am, and my first kid was Bryce, who has been in the program in the past, has a problem learning, took real lessons from Cusick and me, never really progressed.  We told his parents he wasn't really doing well here, and he took a break from flying for six months. He came back for the Squirrels, we flew, I just made sure he had a good time, and that night his parents scheduled me with real lessons with him again twice next week.  Nothing had changed, he still wasn't able to do it, I just kept it light hearted and easy because it's a free flight for him.  My second flight was a girl, her first ever flight in a small plane. She was having fun, and then she got quiet, and then she threw up. Again, it was hot and bumpy.  I got the bag to her in time when she got quiet, but she missed the bag in part and threw up on our headset mic and seatbelt and her own shirt.  I parked the plane away from the others and ran into the FBO, cleaned up what I could with water and rags, threw the bag away in there, had her clean herself up in the FBO, and then go back as if nothing happened.  Nobody knew.  The plane needed deeper cleaning and the mic replaced though, so I taxied it over to the hangar and told Isabel to quietly get one of the guys on it.  Last I checked the smell is gone and the mic is replaced and all is well.

Tuesday evening was a CAF meeting.  I'd sweated all day, should've changed shirts but I didn't. Glenn flew in in his Bonanza and picked up me and Steve and flew us down to Exec for the meeting.  It was mostly about the upcoming event. There was some grown-up drama. We all survived.  Glenn Flew us home, we drove home from there, and I got back around 9 pm to put Ann to bed.

This morning I woke up with sinus pain, had a 9 am flight, but he texted and canceled because he had a fever and felt sick. I was glad he canceled before I'd met with him. So instead Nathan and I flew the Aerostar over to Aurora for them to swap the G500 display to its proper settings and tweak something on the autopilot.  It was supposed to be quick and easy. We got there at 9:30 their time.  I didn't get out of there until 4 pm our time, home around 5.  ALL DAY we were there. We couldn't even really leave. I started getting really cranky around 1:30 pm, hadn't had any food, sitting for hours, updates of "this problem" and "that problem" and "it's Garmin" and...  At the end he came in to do another update and was joking around and he took one look at my face and just stopped that, talked about how they'd worked on it all day long.  I know THEY took a lunch break somewhere in there.  We didn't know we could take a car and go into town and kill SIX HOURS of our lives besides the chairs outside in the waiting area.  Nathan fell asleep for awhile. I tried but I can't sleep in public and the chairs weren't kick back with headrest kinds.  My headache got worse with the high heat, humidity, and complete lack of food since the day before.  I was really getting irritated.  But finally they got it all together, and we took off out of there, and got to Kokomo at 5.  It's a nice display in the panel, I think Nathan will end up liking it a lot too.  I know I do, it makes life easier in some regards.

When I got back, I went over to Ann's, and did her dinner and meds.  She hasn't been feeling well the last several days. Steve had trouble with her this morning trying to get her to change clothes. She had five shirts on at the same time, multiple pairs of socks, and hadn't put on clean underclothes in too long, and there was an issue.  She didn't even notice or care or know what to do about it.  He had to wash most of her clothes twice in a row.  My job tonight at 9 was to get her to change her socks, so I just had her sit down and I did it for her. Her feet are in bad shape. Covered in dead skin, bad toenails. A bunch of dead skin came flaking off when I pulled her sock off, so apparently when she pretends to change her socks for us she's just pretending.  I don't know what to do with that. She used to go to the foot doctor, but I don't know how that would go now.  She needs her hair cut and washed but she hasn't been feeling good all week to be able to go out.  She needs a better full bath/shower but it looks like we're at the point where we have to do it with her.  Not really sure how to go about that. She manages during the day as long as we bring her food and meds and put her to bed and wake her up, but the personal care items are going to require a closer eye now.  She won't work with a stranger, so either she'll be forced to, or...

The cat is refusing to eat anything but a very specific food now, so she didn't eat for the last two days.  She just irritates me. If you're going to be picky then I guess you're going to starve. She's old too, and you can't reason with her any better than you can with a 90 year old with dementia. She's cute, but I just wish she'd eat her stinking food. That's expensive and hard to get that we're dumping out two or three times a day after she sniffs it and leaves it all day.  Stubborn cat.

Kaylee's room is done as far as the flooring goes. We have her bed in there, desk, her mini fridge, and bookshelf.  The pictures don't look as good as it does in person, but we do like it. She's next going to get some things to decorate with.  Window shades, wall hangings of some sort.  We are pleased with the end result.

Tomorrow I fly with Airline Alan again in BOB, and hopefully we can get this done and over with.  Then Friday I'm going to try to get Ann to get her hair cut if she's feeling well enough.  And then it's Wings over Indy event Fri-Sat.  Cathy is coming up to help us with Ann.  Kaylee is housesitting all week for her professor and their two dogs.  She has determined that she will be getting her dog later in life when she has time to deal with the non-stop energy and work that a dog requires. Heh.  Heh.  Hehehehe.

Me in a different T-6. Larry's, now Tim's.

The wide angle makes this look funny but here's the day bed, the desk, the bookshelf, the mini fridge.
