I could date this for Friday but then it might get lost on the page, so I'll just do it out of order, if I can stand it. I'm a little OCD about that, you know. ;)
But I've found having this blog helps me recreate things for billing, and for my logbook, and for proving when something happened, and something happened Friday, so I probably will adjust the date.
Thursday was a lot of sit around and wait, to see if Ethan was going to do his checkride or not in the twin. Last minute he decided to wait for morning. He took it in the morning, and failed on an instrument approach. So now we were back on hold. He had to go back up with his instructor and fix what he messed up, then wait for a time slot to get his checkride done again. Meanwhile, Brad, who I had rescheduled from Thursday to Friday night, was expecting to do his night IFR cross country, right about the same time Ethan was probably going to need picked up again. There was only one good way to make this right. I asked MBros if I could borrow their plane (yes), took Brad with me in it to Frankfort and let him fly, took Ethan's plane with Brad to Ohio and let him fly, picked up Ethan, who passed his checkride the second time, who flew us back to Frankfort, then Brad flew us home in the MBros 340 back to Kokomo. And THEN we did what he wanted with his night cross country IFR and his night currency.
Brad preflighted the 172RG, and filed, and we went to New Castle, on an IFR flight plan, under the hood. When we got there he got a little disoriented about which runway was which, and had a few helmet fire moments, but it was a good experience for him. We came back, and did two more night full stop takeoffs and landings for his night currency. So he got multi time in two airplanes, an IFR cross country, and night currency all in one day, and I think he was pleased. His son Caleb was a really good stick, a student of both me and Steve for Private. He's now been granted a pilot's slot in the Air Force, so he will be going off for training for that soon. I'm sure he'll be good at it. He even looks like a fighter pilot. Trim but fit, tall-ish, dark and handsome, with the intelligent dark eyes. He was a year ahead of Kaylee and sort of a friend of hers, a pretty good kid.
And that was Friday's "Hurry up and wait, now GO GO GO" day. ;)
