Fri-yay

I was up very early again, 6-ish.  Drove to Kokomo and flew the 172 to Wabash, where I met up with a guy to fly his Champ.  My student who had just passed her Private checkride works there too, Mo, so I got to see her, and meet the guys she works with most days.

I flew with H in the Champ, and we had an exciting time. The first takeoff, the winds were a lot gustier and more turbulent than the number says, and he was rusty and was never very capable in the first place, and it got wonky. Once he got it in the air, we're getting tossed around, and he suddenly pulls the power back.  I'm like "eeeeeeek!"  I put the power back in and took over and got us climbing.  I had to do the landing, too.  Next takeoff was a little better, next approach was terrible but landing was better.  We ended it after that, because the plane needs some maintenance.  So I offered to fly it to the shop for him right then and there, if Mo would take my 172 and pick me up at Kokomo, then I'd deliver her back to Wabash.  So that's what we did. Her first official flight as a Private Pilot, at no cost to her, she was late to school, and had a good time too.  And I got the plane delivered to the mechanic with a list of things wrong with it.

I went out to Glenndale where Steve and Chuck had saved me some fried chicken and sides, then back out to Kokomo for an afternoon flight in the 172 on a cross country.  Still gusty, good practice for her.  I was supposed to have a 5:30, but she's so sensitive to turbulence, and this is in the Champ, and it was really bumpy and rough today.  So she canceled. I was okay with that though as I was already tired.

Came home and sat out by the fire with Steve and the guys until 8, came in with Ann who is here for a few more days most likely, until she went to bed at 9, and then watched some tv and tried to relax.

Tomorrow is hopefully "fly the PT" day along with two students and a birthday dinner at Cook McDougal's in town for Jamie.

Champ flying

Champ on the Ramp.  Couldn't get it parked on the line on the first go-around, so I left it.

Roadie out and about

Sitting in our back yard tonight

Chilling out. It feels almost like Fall, not Spring.

Warming fire...
