Snowpocalypse Day Two

The general consensus seems to be about 8.5" of snow in the level areas.  We had drifts well up over a foot.  Steve went out this morning and started shoveling.  He came in after a couple hours, took a lunch break, went back out for a couple hours.  Took a break, looked a little rougher, went back out for an hour and a half.  He got most of the driveway done, and in front of the garage, and on our path, but not where we'll have to back the car up to, and not our sidewalk.  He was *done* after all that though.  That's a lot of snow, and a lot of work.  He turned down my offer to help, though I probably could have forced it.  We had a snow blower, but he gave it to Jon years ago, because Jon lives out in the middle of nowhere.  Jon's had it ever since, so Steve got to shovel all day.  He said "I'm not too old yet".  He's not, but that was a lot of work!

I am grateful for our electricity, our heat, our food, the fact that so many people around the US are really struggling right now.  I know people who have had to go to a hotel because they've been without power for too long, others who are trying tea lights under clay pots to try to warm up a room because they saw that on Facebook.  And we're here doing laundry, watching TV, catching up on billing, taking pictures of the snow, and choosing to shovel it out.   This is good.

Just a few not-great photos from today, I was too lazy to go and be out and take decent ones.  ;)

You can't really see where the driveway is, and the snow is up pretty far up the bushes

Trying to make our tunnels in the snow to get to the garage, the car port, and Ann's

That driveway is longer than you think.

This is a shampoo and conditioner dispenser set.  Mom, this one's for you.
They are noses.

You know you want one.
