Quietly

It's December First, and the world looks like it today.  The trees have lost all their leaves, the fields are all just brown dirt, the sky was that sick light grey of winter overcast, and the ground that wasn't coated in a thin layer of white snow powder was mostly just letting the dirt and concrete show through.  The winds were up around 25 knots, and the high temp for today was 33 degrees.  It is depressing.

No flying today. We had the house cleaners over, so we left for lunch while they did their thing here.  Kaylee joined us for lunch, and has been working on her last paper here all day.  She has to turn it in tomorrow, so she's been working on it as hard as she can.

My MyFlightBook stats came in at midnight for November and year to date.  Funny, 2020 has been an odd year. We stood down for a long time for Covid, and yet I've flown more total hours this year so far than I did in all of 2019. But I haven't flown nearly as many trips as I did last year, and I have 100 hours more tailwheel time than I did last year (so far). So...corporate flights dropped off, and personal trips dropped off, but instructing picked up the slack and then some, and most of it was tailwheel. Interesting.

I called and got an eye appointment so I can get new contacts and glasses, called to get my 2nd Class medical renewed for the FAA (and the soonest they can get me in is February), went online to buy a new pair of my shoes because after 15 months the ones I wear every day are falling apart.  I painted my nails a rust colored dark orange because I can and the army green paint already on them was chipping off.  I picked up my "new" Jeep from the shop because it had started running rough on the way home from the airport Friday, and it was a wiring harness problem that is now fixed.  I'm glad that's all it was.  I avoided going to J Edwards and picking up a treat because my waistline doesn't need that right now.  That was an effort worth mentioning today.  ;)  I hit the bank to sign some paperwork, the post office to send out a legal thing, put away all my laundry for once, just...stuff.  You know?  I'm all caught up and now I want to fly.  Tomorrow looks beautiful but the guy I was supposed to fly with at 9 am has cancelled.  For now, on this beautiful upcoming flight day, Kaylee is my only scheduled student.  That seems like a real shame!!

That's about it for today...sadly.
